Re: "Lifetime" Extended Warranty"???

I originally got a price of like $1,960.00 on-line, which included a special "promo-code" they emailed me.

My dealer beat that and did it for $1,895.00.

Geesh, I don't know. It was "built in" to the price of my purchase, options, trade in, etc., etc. Who knows lol.

Re: "Lifetime" Extended Warranty"???

The online price definitely went up. Last December, I was quoted $1960....now in February the online quote I get is $2330. (minus the $180 email discount).

Bummer, but I'm going to buy it. I take deliver of a new Overland on Monday!

Re: "Lifetime" Extended Warranty"???

OK - I'll jump in here. I've got an Overland Hemi on order (01/11/11) and am expecting to get it in late March early April. I'm looking seriously at the Lifetime MaxCare warranty as I tend to keep my cars 10+ years. So here's the question, say I get rid of the vehicle after 3 years, or it's totaled in an accident, is their any refund on the policy or do I eat the entire cost? If there's a refund, how would they prorate the lifetime coverage? Thanks in advance.

Ron

No refund, not tranferrable.

There is one exception to the refund - If a single repair exceeds the retail book value of the vehicle, they will issue a refund of the service contract cost and cancel the contract.

Re: "Lifetime" Extended Warranty"???

That's not exactly how it was explained to me. If a single repair exceeds the book value of the car, they'll give you that amount (the book value of the car), you keep the car & the contract terminates.

Re: "Lifetime" Extended Warranty"???

I was reading through this post and it appears the lifetime warranty is not transferable? Is everyone 100% sure?
it sure seems like a lifetime warranty sure is a very long time to keep a car. thinking about a 6 year 200k warranty or something like that? is that out there?
any, why wouldnt the warranty be transferable?

Re: "Lifetime" Extended Warranty"???

Yeah, the lifetime is non transferable. They bank on people selling the car before anything catastrophic happens. The dealer wants to make money off selling the warranty so they hope that when you pay $2000 for the warranty they won't need to make $2000 worth of repairs. There are only a couple ways for the dealer to get out of the warranty, if you total the car, don't follow the maintenance schedule and if you sell the car. They would lose their ass if they transferred the warranty for the life of the vehicle. I believe the 7 year warranty you have the option of buying a one time warranty transfer.
