What about calling the MVP office that issued your plan?

Lifetime Maxcare Warranty Transfer-Help

What is a MVP office?

Also I had one other thought today. If in the event what they say is accurate that if I purchased the warranty in Iowa but lived in North Carolina it is not transferable. That being said if I sold warranties in North Carolina to any other state they would be transferable.
So if I was a dealer in North Carolina and sold lifetime warranties to let's say someone in Arizona then the person in Arizona would be able to transfer the warranty to a secondary owner.

Re: Lifetime Maxcare Warranty Transfer-Help

First, the complaint you wrote was not very clear...was wordy and a tad confusing. Just stick to the facts --- I was at the time and continue through today to be a resident of the State of NC. I bought a service plan issued by Chrysler that is marketed to be transferable in the State of NC per NC law. Chrysler refuses to transfer the plan because the dealership that sold the service plan online was in Iowa even though I was and am a NC resident.

Second, I am pretty sure Chrysler would not honor the transferability of a contract sold by a NC dealership to someone in Iowa otherwise it would negate the very thing they don't want to do --- they don't want to transfer lifetime service contracts but only do so because that particular state requires it and Chrysler doesn't want to lose sales in that state so they go along with it.

I know it's bad form to quote yourself but...

My MVP contract just has a PO Box in Troy, MI for the MVP contact but I got this from the Mopar MVP website where they sell the plans:

"If you need additional help or assistance with your Mopar Vehicle Protection plan, please feel free to contact us toll-free Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET or Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET at 1-800-521-9922
(in the U.S.)"

Worth a phone call.

Re: Lifetime Maxcare Warranty Transfer-Help

May turn out interesting from here also. Not planning to sell so time is not important but when I purchased my plan in 2012 I recevied a .pdf that said
""TRANSFER POLICY: The original purchaser may authorize transfer ofcoverage, provided the Plan has not been canceled. Remaining Plan coverage may be transferred to the first subsequent purchaser of the vehicle AT TIME OF VEHICLE SALE ONLY. Thereafter, the Plan is non-transferable and non-cancelable."

That matched what I expected.

However I just looked online at Mopar Vehicle Protection for Jeep and found this under my contract:
"TRANSFER POLICY: This plan is not transferable to subsequent owners or lessees, even if they are within the same family or business."

For those having nothing better to do the Florida Statute Title XXXVII 634.121 (2) (both 2012 and 2014 version) reads:
"All motor vehicle service agreements are assignable in a consumer transaction and must contain a statement in conspicuous, boldfaced type, informing the purchaser of the service agreement of her or his right to assign it to a subsequent retail purchaser of the motor vehicle covered by the service agreement and all conditions on such right of transfer. The assignment must occur within a period of time specified in the agreement, which period may not expire earlier than 15 days after the date of the sale or transfer of the motor vehicle. The service agreement company may charge an assignment fee not to exceed $40."

I have contacted the selling dealer (not in Iowa or Michigan or Florida) and will see what happens.

ps supect that in the end, the service contract was sold by Chrysler and the dealer is simply their agent.
"*we, us, our - means Chrysler Group LLC the entity obligated to perform the obligations of this contract"

Re: Lifetime Maxcare Warranty Transfer-Help

Yes I am in Florida and just received an initial response from the selling dealer that since "The insurance commission also requires that the pricing for these contracts be set at the suggested retail price and can not be discounted." they could not comply with the transferrability

Well not quite:

"The new law (Florida SB 2176) also makes it clear that the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation no longer regulates rates charged by service agreement companies and requires that each service agreement sold in the state on or after July 1, 2011 “be accompanied by a written disclosure to the consumer that the rate charged for the service agreement is not subject to regulation by the office” which disclosure may be part of the service agreement, itself, or in a separate written statement."

Issue is now moot. Chrysler just verified that my plan is transferrable, the web page is rong, and is sending verification. I also have a case number.

Moral: if a Floridian and concerned then call Chrysler and not the dealer.

ps part of that same SB says "Makes a failure to provide a complete sample copy of the terms and conditions of a service or warranty agreement prior to sale an unfair practice, but provides that this information may be provided online". That sample .pdf from 2012 is what had the one time transferrability notice that is now missing.

Re: Lifetime Maxcare Warranty Transfer-Help

Fixed "the selling dealer" as opposed to Chrysler.

Bottom line: the SC that prints from the Web site at present may be a generic contract and not a special one for specific states. If it does not sound right, call Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET or Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET at 1-800-521-9922 (in the U.S.)". They should have the real info and if different ask to be sent a copy and for a case number.

"The rules are different here."

Re: Lifetime Maxcare Warranty Transfer-Help

When u get a copy of the contract they send u can I take a look? I've spoken to Chrysler probably more than I should and I'm still getting 50/50 answers. Some yes some no. Maybe your paperwork can help my argument

Re: Lifetime Maxcare Warranty Transfer-Help

We will see what appears in 7 to 10 business days. I know there is some precidence about things that happen online. Can say that Chrysler appeared to know I was a Florida resident. (Have a couple of cars registered with them).
