Liftgate issue

Got new tires put on my '14 JGC yesterday and had them put the old tires in the cargo area. Now the liftgate won't open. It does the normal beeping noise, moves a little bit and then automatically closes.

I'm supposed to go to Moab this weekend and will still go but it'll obviously be much more of a PITA if I can't open the liftgate. I've got an appointment tomorrow (Thursday) at the dealership but am supposed to leave Friday morning.

Anyone ever experience anything similar and/or have any ideas?

Thanks

Can you open it manually? 2 quick pulls on the handle.

Re: Liftgate issue

Did you tie the tires down? If not, they may be binding against the tailgate.

Re: Liftgate issue

Tires are no longer in the cargo area. I pulled them out through the rear door.

Were they jammed in there in such a manner the liftgate might not have been able to close properly?

Re: Liftgate issue

That is my guess. Or it wouldn't close and the guy at the tire shop forced it shut.

Re: Liftgate issue

Figured it out. I went home that night and tried the manual open. It wouldn't work so I decided to force it open. I got it open and saw what's in the photo below. I'm not sure how it happened but it was easy to pop back in place.
