Liftgate question

Can the liftgate height when open be adjusted? I occasionally carry a canoe on racks and it looks like the liftgate will hit the canoe when open. The Explorer had 2 settings, high and low. TIA.

This is an enhancement that Chrysler needs to add to its products. My 2014 Cherokee Limited's liftgate has 1/2 inch clearance when opened in my garage.

Afraid of that. Looks like pulling the 30amp F39 fuse would disable the liftgate, assuming it still would open/close manually. Anyone aware of any other way to easily disable the liftgate opening electrically?

Re: Liftgate question

What I did when I had a kayak up there was to stop the gate by hand and let it just touch the bottom. Stopping it by hand is ok. It never caused an issue for the Jeep or the yak.

Thanks I'll give it a try. Just grab it and hold it till it stops?

Re: Liftgate question

Double pull on the liftgate handle disables the auto lift. It will still go all the way to the top though.

Yup. It might try to go down. Just hold it until it stops.

Re: Liftgate question

Just tried the 2 suggestions and the double handle grab works for what I need. I will add a piece of split pipe insulation to the spoiler edge when I open it so no paint on either the boat or GC gets chipped. Thanks Guys
