I've seen a few that had to be re-done. On the ones I have done personally, I remove the spoiler for better access first. Second, remove the grommet from the glass and apply a bead of sealant to the inner grommet channel that goes through the glass. Next, reinstall the grommet and apply a thin bead of sealant to the topside of the grommet where it overlaps the outside of the flipper glass. Usually I apply enough where it squeezes out and I can use the remaing sealant to make a nice bead. I see no need to seal the backside of the grommet because the water intrusion comes from the outside.

Same thing here. As with the above, i took my Jeep in and they had a glass guy come in and fix it. Took him all of 20 minutes and did not have to take the rear spoiler off. Can see only see the slightest amount of sealant that he used and has been leak free since.

Re: liftgate window leak

777 miles on my 2013 WK2 and I discovered today (first automatic car wash) that my WK2 has this issue as well. I scheduled an appointment with my dealership on Monday at 9:30 a.m. Hopefully it's going to be fixed right the first time with a minimal amount of time an hassle.

Truthfully I'm a little surprised that it's this common... and there was an earlier TSB to address it... but it hasn't been fixed at the engineering level at the manufacturing plant.

Had my Jeep in to have my Summit Grille installed and had them fix the leak as well. Seems like they did the fine needle fix. I xan see the sealent by hardly at all. Have to wait 24-48 hours before I can pass it in the car wash. Hopefully it fixed.

Re: liftgate window leak

The dealership screwed up the appointment so now I'm set to go back out there again this Monday...

Re: liftgate window leak

Got it fixed today, maybe. Looks like they ran the vehicle through their automatic wash, so we'll see if the seals hold. Here is a copy of my order outlining what they did...

Re: liftgate window leak

Same problem with my 2013 GC Laredo X. The dealer's 'top mechanic' stuck a silicone tube nozzle in there and shot it full and it leaked the next day.

My 'new dealer' service department said you have to remove the brake light cowling (awning) to access the leaking grommet. When they got into mine, the original repair only filled the leaking grommet half-way and it leaked.

Just a side note: Not bagging on anyone, but "Search is your friend" is not helpful. Why would you sentence me or anyone else to go spend otherwise useful time researching when the answer is in your mind and fingertips?

If someone asks me which LED bulb they should use in their 2013 Laredo fog lights, I am not going to tell them to go look it up yourself or search for it if the part number is right there in my mouth!

In case you are reffering to me. I was joking and telling myself to "search" I am the one that started this thread after all.

But I agree with you. sometimes search is a little bit much with what comes up. So asking is usually quicker.

I still havent had a chance to test the repair. will do tomorrow or the following day.

Re: liftgate window leak

Believe me, I'm searching on my driver's seat noise that the dealer can't fix, yet.

This is a great example of what we're talking about.

I know I've read about new Jeep driver's seats making a popping sound that the dealer can't fix yet on this forum. I've tried searching various combos of keywords and came up empty. So now, if anyone is reading this, they might say," Oh, yeah, that was back in November.." maybe, not.
