Re: Light Throttle Whistle / Whine - V6 / QuadraTrac I - With VIDEO

I'm in a '12 with the V8, but I only get it on throttle lift, at just about any speed. Let it keep slowing and it goes away. Hit the gas and it goes away. I can pretty much recreate it at will.
Pushing 4500 miles now, and it's still there, was hoping it would go away as it broke in. Odd thing is it sounds like it's coming from ahead of the Passenger side somewhere, but noises like that are deceptive to pinpoint. I was thinking PCV or vacuum line somewhere.
Will bring it up to dealer when I get a chance to take it in, which I haven't had yet.

Re: Light Throttle Whistle / Whine - V6 / QuadraTrac I - With VIDEO

I failed to mention after reading a couple of threads regarding transfer case issues I noticed the sound appears while driving in "Auto" mode. When I switched to "Sport" mode the sound never appears regardless of how many times I take a slow right hand curve. Once I switch back to "auto" mode the sound comes back.

Re: Light Throttle Whistle / Whine - V6 / QuadraTrac I - With VIDEO

Palmetto,

I have the exact same sound at 65 when going off throttle and only in auto mode, not in sport. I have QuadraTrac II. I'm now at 1250 miles and over time, the sound seems to have gotten fainter and shorter in duration, but it's still there. I've thought of taking it in as well and don't like the idea of taking the transmission apart.

Does anyone have connections to the factory? Let us know what you come up with!

Thanks.

Interesting...the last few times I checked the fluid level it was right at the min mark. No signs of leaks.

The vehicle is going back to the dealer for further investigation of an A/C system leak tomorrow and I'll see if they can take the time to check the power steering as well.

That's a good point. I noticed this morning that the temp was only around 143-145 degrees (and it was silent). Seems like it is normally in the mid 160s when I check on the interstate, but I'm not sure. I'll pay attention to that next time I hear it.

Let me know if the transmission temperature plays a role.

My V6 started producing a similar noise at 100km per hour after my tires were rotated after 12k service.

FWIW I don't hear the sound until the transmission fluid temp is up (above 160 or so).

Re: Light Throttle Whistle / Whine - V6 / QuadraTrac I - With VIDEO

I was driving around last night and didn't hear the whine at hwy speeds but it's still there when i'm driving around the parking lot or coming to stop or just after moving from a stop.

Palmetto - maybe my issue is different than yours after all. Mine sounds electrical than mechanical as if the sound is emanating from the tweeter by the side mirror. It's really f#$(*#-ing annoying.

2012 3.6L overland with tow. I absolutly did not and do not have that whine.
I just rolled over to 1900 miles today.

I've got a odd crunching sound when I tap on the brakes can't reproduce it yet. spending some early am time in the parking lot tomorrow.

Re: Light Throttle Whistle / Whine - V6 / QuadraTrac I - With VIDEO

I'm still waiting on it to do it again. My commute is only about 25 min, with 10 min or so being not on an interstate, so perhaps it needs more than that. Or maybe it's cured (a guy can dream).

Re: Light Throttle Whistle / Whine - V6 / QuadraTrac I - With VIDEO

I heard it faintly tonight, but only briefly. Checked EVIC when I heard it and temp was 168. Seems like it is temp dependant...
