Re: Light Throttle Whistle / Whine - V6 / QuadraTrac I - With VIDEO
Similar issue. During early acceleration at each of the first two low gears, I hear a two second whining/whistling noise. Much louder outside the car than inside. Thought I was hearing things until one day was standing next to the car when someone else was pulling it into my garage and noted it was pretty loud. Now the whole family notices it. Seems to be only once engine has been running for awhile. I do notice it during highway driving as well. No performance issues noted. Does not seem related to use of A/C since I have been noting it during the winter and without the defroster on.
None of the TSBs seem to address this exactly, although the one about whistling and the HVAC system may be similar. Any thoughts before I bring it in and hopefully am able to reproduce it for them? About 5500 miles on the car. Interestingly there's an old TSB 09-001-07 from 3/14/07 for the WK jeeps that I found searching online: "This bulletin involves applying a thin bead of RTV to the intake manifold-to-throttle body joint....The customer may experience a slight ** high frequency (pitch) ** whistle-like sound while
driving. This sound is not loud and may not be noticed by most drivers. The sound can
occur at any ambient or engine operating temperature. The whistle-like sound is most
noticeable under load, with a light throttle, and between 1,200 and 2,000 engine RPM's."
