Long crank

Hello,

I've been experiencing very long cranks when starting my 2011 GC overland. Sometimes it will just crank and stop and some times it catches and starts, but with some sputter.

I noticed the information center says to put your foot on the brake to start while it is turning over, which is odd. No codes are thrown. Anyone else experience this or have any ideas?

70k. Its done it off and on since about 40k miles. Dealer cannot replicate and my independent mechanic experienced it but didn't know what was causing it.

It idles very rough, but the dealer says it normal for a hemi. Plugs were changed at 60k miles.

Re: Long crank

Sounds fuel related...possibly filter issues or bleed-off from a bad injector or fuel pressure regulator perhaps?

Re: Long crank

I'd check the pressure on the fuel rail during crank and at idle. Dealer should know the spec. If it runs well off-idle then is probably a leak and not a clog. Foot-on-brake is an interlocki with the starter.
