Re: Long extended crank & no start FIXED!!

You should go ahead and have it replaced, because if you end up needing one badly, you will be SOL. I need one badly and they are on a 6 to 8 week backorder.

Believe me I'm right there with you. Mine was ordered last Thursday. Curious as to where you got the timeframe though? Chrysler refuses to tell me what the ETA is for the part. My dealership told me a "few weeks" but honestly I think they don't have a clue about that part of it.

Re: Long extended crank & no start FIXED!!

That's what the dealer told me. He had just gotten off the phone with Chrysler. He said they were having a problem with the distributor and the backorder is nationwide. They told me that for a problem like this, if they had the part at a different dealership, they would give me a loaner/rental, but since the part won't be available for so long, they just had to send me on my way in my Jeep and a "good luck, call us if you get stranded and we'll send a tow truck". I said what then? He didn't have an answer other than to try calling Chrysler to see if they can do something.

Re: Long extended crank & no start FIXED!!

Need a TIPM!!! 2011 Overland v6, extended crank when cold, ran fine once started. Brought to Jeep, tech told me it needed fuel pump. Waited a week for pump (driving it in the meantime/problem got worse) finally brought to Jeep and said its so bad I have to leave it. Service tells me the pump is in, wait 2 days for them to replace pump. They call and say now its your TIPM, need a week to get it. Waiting now and calling around to find out the whole world is out of stock.. What is this a 1967 Ferrari part????????? Seriously, looks like 6 weeks with my Kia Soul rental!!!!!

I posted my issue in the other mentioned thread, but to answer your question - yes, Chrysler paid for a rental car. I was told that I was #207 on the back order list for this part today...

You need to call 1-800-992-1997 to get the rental car approved and paid for by Chrysler.

Re: Long extended crank & no start FIXED!!

I pray that I am included in the lot of TIPMs that is hopefully being released on 8/22. My safety is the most important thing. It's more important than the class action lawsuit that some folks are talking about...not sure why no recall, but we may have a chance to ask that under oath.

Re: Long extended crank & no start FIXED!!

Mine stalled while driving around 40mph last night. I called jeep and am now approved for a rental. In a compass for the weekend and we'll see what I get on Monday.

Re: Long extended crank & no start FIXED!!

Contacted Chrysler Aug.19 ,was given a case manager, ( didn't need a case manager) just need to now when the tipm was going to be available. Was told that the parts would be shipped to Chrysler until Sept 23 .so who knows when they will arrive to the dealers. My wk2 hemi will be down for over 2 months waiting on parts .was given a rental but no hitch ,( we boat some , have a few rental houses that I need to use a small utility trailer for lawn mowing and materials for repair) this is why I always buy trailer towing PAC. This is getting ridiculous .

Re: Long extended crank & no start FIXED!!

Seems like a temporary bypass kit would be simple enough, not like it is the Powertrain controller. What are the error codes please ?

There are no error codes. According to my dealer it is just the "TIPM sending a bad signal to the fuel injector". Very interested in any suggestions you may have though.
