Re: Looking for recomendations for Extended Warranties

Koons in VA who is the dealership running the DC area group buy was able to match any price on the max care lifetime which I added to my purchase during the meeting with the finance manager. No complaints very straight forward and not pushy one bit. I can definitely recommend them.

Re: Looking for recomendations for Extended Warranties

Thanks for the help. I just bought the lifetime warranty from the Zeigler people for $2,465 with $100 deductible. My Grand Cherokee has over 25,000 on it, and I drive over 20,000 miles per year.

I am going through this exact scenario right now and there was a surprise: what I did not know at the time of signing the loan papers, the dealer said that I would be able to cancel my extended service agreement at any time and it was true. But what he did not say is that the refund will not go to me, but will have to go straight back to the bank and credited to the loan. That's the rule and there is no way around it. Your monthly payments will remain same with the difference that your loan will be reduced by the amount of your refund. In order to get your replacement extended service agreement financed, you'd have to refinance your loan. But here is another catch, it is at least in my situation: no matter what, the bank will not refinance for at least 90 days after signing the loan agreement, which means - they will have to run your credit all over again and give you the interest rate whichever it will be at that time.

True. But your loan also ends up being paid off a bit sooner because the principal gets reduced by the refund of the service agreement.

Re: Looking for recomendations for Extended Warranties

I guess that depends on how you pay for your warranty. The amount for my lifetime max care 100 dollar deductible was retuned to me via check after I cancelled mine after getting home and thinking about it for a few days. Because of the TSB issues and dash blackouts etc.. Chrysler gave me the lifetime max care warranty for free after several conversations with them about my car and being assigned a customer care rep.

Re: Looking for recomendations for Extended Warranties

I purchased my 14 Limited a few weeks ago and I bought a warranty from the dealer when I sat down with the finance manager. He was trying to sell me the usual stuff but I wasn't biting. He shoved a piece of paper with the price of an extended warranty around $2.000.00 or so(cant remember the exact amount) which I laughed at. Without blinking an eye he offered me $1500.00 for a 5/70 Max Care plan with a $100.00 deductible. I thought it was a good deal so I took it. After reading this thread I thought I would check out Zeiglers. They offered me the same plan with 0 deductible for $1.430.00. I actually called Zeiglers and talked to Bob Cline who was very helpful. So today I call the finance manager and explained that I had a better deal and if they could match it I would do business with them otherwise I will cancel my plan and buy it elsewhere. He said no problem just call tomorrow and we will get it done. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread, just saved me some money and helped me get a better deal.
