Loose Gas Door?

Is your gas door on tight against the vehicle?

Does it sit against that rubber gasket at all? Look from the top, mine doesn't appear to seal. Maybe 2MM gap. Crud gets in. Pushing against the door shows more movement than expected.

They verified mine wasn't right. Talked to the tech and he said he's replaced several of them already in the early production molds. Luckily dealer had part in stock.

Now my gas lid is nice and tight. I'm hoping they didn't scratch the surrounding quarter panel though. I saw dust marks all over, but it was too dark to look for scratches. Will do a quick detailer tomorrow.

Had mine replaced in 2016. Now it's loose again so had the dealer order the assembly again. It's covered be MaxCare but still have to pay the $100 deductible. Some guys have taken the unit out and drilled a hole in the hinge pin for a cotter pin to fix it. There should be an old post with pics showing how to do that.

Well, since it was hovering near 20*F, when I made my original post, I opted to take it to the dealer, and use my Maxcare warranty. Yes, it cost me the "customary" $100. In doing a little research, it appears that the assembly, itself, can be purchased for $40, or so. If mine craps out again, and it isn't the middle of winter, I'll most likely tackle the job myself. Maybe, just screwing a "speed nut" on to the end of the pivot shaft of the hinge, at a cost of $0.20, or so, would do it, rather than replacing the whole assembly.

Mine was supposedly replaced for being loose, but think they just tightened or adjusted it - there was zero difference in the paint color or finish. Still a small gap so bought one of those caps to seal up the fuel inlet pipe and flap.
