Losing faith - Jeep in Shop for several issues

My Jeep is back in the service bay for several issues. I bought it new in Dec, 2011. The first 18 months were trouble-free...loved it. Last summer, the torque converter had to be replaced -- which required a 6-day stay. Fast-forward to now, and I have several additional (mostly minor) problems:

1. Brake booster recall: mine needed the shield, and part came in.

2. Leaky Power-steering boot: replace the whole rack, and re-align.

3. Oily top engine passenger's side: replace cam sensor seal.

4. Tranny breather hose disconnected on the tranny: I assume this is a left-over item from having the torque converter replaced last summer. I'm guessing they forgot to connect it. now they have to loosen tranny to get to it.

5. Clunky rear shocks: I doubt they will do much here -- as there is no permanent fix. I'll probably just have to live with them.

I'm sure it will be in for 2 days. Items 1-3 were of course diagnosed on a previous visit, and required parts to be ordered. I've now had more problems than my last 10 vehicles combined. Although the issues have been somewhat minor, and all covered under warranty, it's still a major nuisance. We live 15 mi from dealer. They have a shuttle, but I'm always the last to get dropped off -- so it turns into a 20 min + 1 hr shuttle ride. I normally have a 10-min commute.

This was my first Jeep, and I probably won't be a repeat customer. I've owned many vehicles, and these seem to be more problem-some than all other forums I have been on. Granted, these forums are probably more active, but I've haven't read of "buy-backs" on any other vehicle I've owned. /Rant off

Re: Losing faith - Jeep in Shop for several issues

I know how you feel.

I had a host of issues with my first Jeep...an early build 2014 GC Limited (4/13). Not only did I have issues with the vehicle, I also had to deal with the shitty Jeep dealerships in my area.

I loved the vehicle so much though I gave the GC another try...and traded the Limited in for a later build 2014 Overland...so far so good (fingers crossed).

I'll tell you this...if I start having a host of issues with the Overland, it will be the last Jeep I'll ever buy again. I also feel that the Jeep dealership network in my area is one of worst I've ever had to deal with...it's like pulling teeth to get them to do anything. Took lodging a complaint at Chrysler Customer Care to get things done.

Re: Losing faith - Jeep in Shop for several issues

To be fair, I've now kept the Jeep longer than most of my previous vehicles. That figures -- the one I decide to keep has the most issues. Luckily, my dealer is excellent at sales and service. My next vehicle will have a 3rd row. I know a Durango is the same platform, but it would be near the top of my list currently. I'd go with Hemi this time -- as the drivetrain seems more "proven".

Many millions of chrysler vehicles have faulty ignition switches?? Maybe I missed something, but the only thing I heard about was some minivan that were being investigated because some people had moved the switch by hitting it with their leg or knee or whatever. Something being looked into does not mean its defective and it doesn't mean its many millions as you claim. Maybe you should get your facts straight before you post.

1.2 million chryslers - Jeeps, minivans, etc - nothing newer than 2010. (I thought it was over 2m but maybe I heard wrong) and there are 2 things.. a possible faulty Airbag , and yes,.... the bad ignition switch (bumping it turns it off) to me... thats faulty.

Re: Losing faith - Jeep in Shop for several issues

I'm very pleased with the outcome. The dealer called me at 4:30 yesterday. All items were replaced/fixed -- including new rear self-leveling shocks. I'm very surprised they got it all done in 1 day. It rides smooth and quiet once again. The shocks made a huge difference. You don't really notice how loud the old ones were until they are gone. Hopefully my Jeep will be solid for the next several years.
