Re: Lost key fob :(

Getting a cheaper key fob or not.....you should still take your ride to the dealership so they can disable/erase the lost key fob in your ECU. Or maybe you wake up one day and your ride is gone...

That's fine....I still am wondering if there is a more affordable way to get a replacement.

Re: Lost key fob :(

I ordered a used key fob off ebay and will have the dealership program it for me. The fob was $45 from an ebay store. Just look them up. It's not the prettiest looking key, but I just wanted it for a backup.

Although you have to go to the stealership or a locksmith to have it programed, you can get a fob or two cheaper on ebay.

Re: Lost key fob :(

FWIW, I bought a used FOBIK and it ended up frying my PCM, both needed replacement. Heads up.

Re: Lost key fob :(

hmmm...Did you have the dealership program it, or did you try it yourself? The ebay store that I bought from give you directions to program the FOBIK, but you have to already have two working FOBIK's. I only have one right now so will need to go to the dealership.

Re: Lost key fob :(

I had a key stolen from me from across the country. The dealership quoted charging me $50 to remove the old one! Are they the only ones that can do this? That price seems ridiculous.
