Loud Beeping Sound when in R - not parksense

I've noticed when I back up, car in R, and there is traffic going by, there is a loud beeping sound everytime a car passes. Its really annoying. Its not the park sense system, because I can turn it off (button on front dash) and it still makes the beep. Its also much louder than the parking sensor beep. I've adjusted the parking sensor beep from medium to low, but it still makes the loud ass sound when cars are driving by. I live in San Francisco, so its a common occurrence of backing out with tons of traffic.

Anyone know how to turn this off?

I have the blind spot monitoring, but only have it set to "visual/side mirrors"

Re: Loud Beeping Sound when in R - not parksense

That's called cross path detection and is a extremely helpful system IMO. It sees a car coming down the lane before you can
When mine does the loud beep I know there is no reason to continue reversing because there is a car coming which I can't even see yet.
You might be able to turn it off in the Uconnect settings.

Ok, so we've identified what it is, but is there anyway to turn the volume down? Its so loud! also when hundreds of cars are driving by, its extremely annoying, its like, ok I get it, there are cars.

Dunno but you could try forcing it to activate with a helper in another vehicle, then try turning sound volume down with radio sound control while it is going off. That's how I turned up the sound on my turn by turn nav voice.

That will not work, that method only works for the voice commands or navigation volumes. All the volume controls for the beeps are in the Uconnect settings menus.

Re: Loud Beeping Sound when in R - not parksense

There is no volume control for the Rear Cross Path detection. It is part of the Blind Spot Monitoring system. The only way to silence it is to turn off Blind Spot Monitoring completely (in Uconnect). Even with "alert lights only" selected in the BSM settings, the RCP will still mute the radio and make the sound. (p. 141-144 of the owners manual)

Under driving assistance and safety you can change the volume of the park sense (front and rear) tones. I have mine on low and it's a perfect volume IMO. Keep in mind this has nothing to do with the rear cross path alert this thread is talking about. I just sat in my Jeep and went through all settings and just as driverdave said there is no volume control for cross path alert, or even an on/off setting.
The only other thing I can think of is just maybe there are some settings hidden within the dealers scan tool if someone was able to access that and dig around through all the menus. I'm sure a dealer would charge you for the time to even look, or they might not even do it at all.
I will admit the tone is pretty loud and even startling at times when not expecting it, but the system does work very well.
