Re: Loud Click When Operating Heat Features

+1 it is a normal relay activation. I'm on my second WK2 and both have done the same. The WK1's do the same thing when the heated seats are activated. Some people probably just don't notice it while others do.

Re: Loud Click When Operating Heat Features

I have my new Overland for 1 month now & have heard the relays for the seats & wheel 'click' from under the passenger seat since day 1.

I just figured that it is a normal operational function... Yes, it's a little loud & noticeable with no music on, but I'm sure we can all live with it.

But could Jeep box-up or insulate these relays better for a quieter operation?

Sure, & you would think that they would & could do a better job with that function, especially on vehicles with that price point... But I guess we will have to live with it, until they or even we, improve on it!

Thanks, Gents. I admittedly was getting paranoid, had Best Buy install the viper smart start on my truck and it took 3 trips to get their install right and messed some stuff up in between. Heard the clicks and hit the roof... now I'm all good! Haha. Love the smart start, for anyone who is interested...

Re: Loud Click When Operating Heat Features

When the cabin is quiet (radio off or low) I DO hear the click of the relay when I switch on the heated seats, wheel etc.

I figure the reason I hear it in this vehicle is because the battery is under the Passenger seat, and so the relays are there (or under the drivers seat).
Anyway, no matter.
The reason I don't hear them in my other vehicle is because the battery is under the hood, as are ALL the other relays - THERFORE no clicking.

I don't let stuff like that bother me. Wheels falling off, or motors blowing up bother me.

Re: Loud Click When Operating Heat Features

Relays are loud. They are really loud when several pull in at the same time. In fact it should be reassuring to hear a positive crisp click that means its working. The ones in the JGC do seem louder than normal in some situations. I have attributed this to two things 1) the Cabin is extremely quiet and 2) the location of said relay's. The only time relay noise is not normal is when they "Chatter" or "buzz" That means the coil is going bad.
