Low idle vibration & oil leak - '11 WK2 Laredo X

Hi all,

Noticed late last week my '11 WK2 Laredo X has developed a vibration that is very noticeable when idleing with the transmission engaged.

Also noticed yesterday it has developed some kind of fluid leak on the front driver side. Looks to be in the power steering area... but not sure.

All I can think of is I made a hard sharp turn into a parking lot late last week and that's when I started feeling the vibration.

The CIL isn't on. No messages on the display. All fluid levels are fine. Fluid pressures and temps on the display seem to be as usual.

I'll call the dealer tomorrow to get it in and luckily I have a Mopar extended warranty... but if you guys have any idea what it might be... I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Thank you sir! Took your info and found another post on Jeep Garage from last year that almost reads "word for word" from my original post.

Vibration at idle with tranny engaged along with strange fluid leak = bad motor mount.

Anyone know if Mopar's "Added Care Plus" warranty covers such a beast? Can't find any specific info about motor mounts in it... but appears the motor and drivetrain are covered. Even Mopar's "Maximum Care" warranty doesn't mention them.

Thanks again. You really put my mind at ease tonight knowing at least it's not an internal motor issue. Love these forums!

What extended warranty do you have? Found a chart online showing Mopar Added Care Plus (mine) doesn't cover motor mounts... but Mopar Maximum Care does. That really sucks if it's true.

If you send me the last 9 of your vin number, last name and miles I can check to see if the motor mount is covered or not in chryslers system. (FCA employee)

Hi joplin-wk2-fan,

You can check what your Mopar service contract covers by visiting MOPAR Vehicle Protection | Extended Warranty | Chrysler Group LLC.. Let me know if you have any additional questions!

Got the motor mounts replaced. $200 parts and labor total. $110 shipped for both Mopar OEM mounts via Ebay... and $90 labor by an excellent tech found via Craigslist.

Cannot believe how well the Jeep drives now. Absolute world of difference. Worth every penny. Engine is as smooth as silk. Whole front end feels lighter and much better steering response.

Highly suggest to all WK2 owners pushing 80k+ miles to replace the motor mounts. They are basically mini hydraulic shocks that become weak over time. Even if they're not leaking or don't appear bad... you'll notice a huge difference. Replace both of them... not just the worst one.

Buy them yourself on Ebay and have a "shade tree" mechanic install them if warranty doesn't cover. Paying a Jeep dealer $600+ to replace them is crazy.
