Well I just bought a used 11 WK2 Limited V6 with 25K miles. Keep in mind I bought this Cert. used from Darcars Jeep in Rockville MD. BTW I don't mind putting there name out there and as you read futher you will understand. First let me just say I had a very pleasant experience purchasing my Jeep from this dealer but the service side well....... So let me get to my issue, after owning this jeep for a week I began to notice that there was a low speed gear wine at right around 8mph and contuied until I was able to speed up. So I took it back to the dealers service department and told what my issues was and was told "no problem will have it taken care of". Ok so I figured no big deal, well I guess not. A day passes and I get a call "OK you can come get it" So I asked what caused the problem and was told there is no problem we were unable to duplicate the issues so there is nothing to fix. So I told them again what the issue was and how it could be duplicated and 20min later I get the same response cant duplicate the problem. So I figured OK well I guess Ill just have to go down to the dealer and show them myself, so I did and was able to show them the problem within 30sec. So again I was told will have it taken care of. Ast forward two days and I haven't heard anything from the dealer, so I call and I am told there is nothing we can do we can fix it. chrysler is aware of the problem and there going to address is with a "fix" . That was 3 weeks ago and I still haven't heard from them, I even called was told I would get a call back and still nothing!! I am now dealing directly with chrysler but there is still no resolution......
Is this the same sound whine I hear when I come to a slow stop and goes away after full stop. The whine sound comes back when slow start up to 5 - 10 mph depending on how. fast the acceleratetion is. I just came to live with it. New 2011 with 3,261 miles, 3.6 penstar.

I think I have the same noise and got same response from the dealer, currently I am living with it while waiting on jeep for over 2 months. We have got a pretty good thread documenting this, search "intermittent moan / whine at 5 mph".
I have the same problem. Had my Jeep at the dealer yesterday. They had no problem duplicating the noise but were unable to isolate the cause. They indicated that Chysler Canada had NO documented issues associated with my problem. The dealership told me to drive my vehicle and bring it back if the noise gets louder. Paid too much for my WK2 to have this continue.
I am new to this forum and I'm interested to understand how to reference a known problem. If Jeep is working on a fix, is there a reference number or code that I could give my dealer so they can do further fact-finding or alert me when a fix is available?
I think I might have the same problem. Its kind of a humming noise that either goes away after 15mph of surrounding noise is to loud to be able to hear it. It sound sort of like something in the back is missing lubrication.
I have an '11 GC with the V6 and ORII package, 32,xxx miles now. I noticed the same type of noise, mainly able to duplicate it by rolling slowly at aroun 5-10 mph. With my dealer's help, we diagnosed it as the transfer case clutches. The tech pulled the control wire connector off of the transfer case, effectively rendering it as a 2wd vehicle and the noise disappears. Re-plug it in and the noise is immediately back. At about 24k miles we changed the fluid in the transfer case, the noise went away for about two weeks and gradually came back. Now it's about the same as it always has been. The service writer claims this is probably a normal sound on a full-time 4wd vehicle, but we'll see. I do have an extended warranty so I mainly wanted to get the noise documented early on, in case I do have some problems later on. Other than the sound, which isn't all that bad, I've had no other symptoms of any problems this could result in. I guess time will tell.....
There have been a few people with this issue. I had it in my 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland V6. It ended up being my transfer case. They replaced it, which lessened the noise, but did not completely cure the problem. After my transfer case was replaced I had a slew of drivetrain issues. The service advisor recommended I get the car lemon lawed, instead I went and traded it in for a BMW. The jeep was in the shop for a month and I was tired of driving rentals from enterprise. At the same time my my brake rotors and rear shock went bad as well. The jeep had just under 9k miles on it. I've been following jeepgarage to see if anyone has been able to resolve this issue.
After I brought it back with severe vibrations from the drive shafts and the noise still being present, i was told they all do that and Jeep would be releasing a statement that it was the electronics in the transfercase determining where to send torque. I never received that statement. I drove a 2011 Summit before going to the BMW dealer to see if they would give me a deal on getting out of my current Jeep, as i was at the selling dealer. That GC did not have the moan that was present in my car at 5 mph.
If you feather the throttle at 5mph, with the radio off, the transfer case will really sing! I could feel the vibration through the entire car.
