Re: Major smoke out of exhaust

Just dropped mine off for the 2nd time about the blue smoke. 2013 and I haven't even made the first payment yet. This is sad. Talked to Chrysler and they are opening a CARE Case and calling the service manager. Don't know what this will do, but he is trying. Got the same thing I got from the service adviser. I have never heard of that issue. I hope they can get this resolved.

Re: Major smoke out of exhaust

Just picked up the WK2. They could not reproduce so there is nothing they can do. They even said the video that I send them was blue smoke. "not saying there is not an issue, we just can't re-produce it, so there is nothing we can do.". So, I will continue to video it. Take it back up there 3 more times and if still nothing, I will invoke the very nice Texas Lemon law and get my money back. I think I am now done with Chrysler. Sad, because my wife loves this truck. I like the truck, I love my Challenger, but I think it is time to try a toyota.

Install the catch can and see if it solves your issue. If it works it cost you $100 and it's over vs all the trips tot he dealer and the BS that goes with it.
My 2013 Limited had it and at the 1st oil change I did the catch can and it's gone.

After talking to the wife she loves the truck to much, so I just ordered the catch can. I have one on my challenger as well. So I know they work. Just sad to pay that much for a car and have to spend more to keep it from smoking. My butthead side was coming out, wanted to make the service guys life hell.

I agree you shouldnt have to spend more money to solve an issue on your own. But life is short and it was an easy fix.

The catch can is going to help with oil sludge blow by but do ABSOLUTLY NOTHING in helping the smoking at startup problem. There have been literally dozens who have tried a Catch Can to help the smoking problem and it didn't help at all.

True. The catch can takes care of the crappy pcv valve. It does catch the oil/moisture sludge that the pcv valve lets get by. Even the revised pcv valve is a piece of junk. The blue smoke at start up is from oil getting into the combustion chamber. The oil pan change does help but I still get some smoke at start up once in a while. Jeep seems to be baffled by this. I was warned about Chrysler but I didn't listen so here I am.

Re: Major smoke out of exhaust

My Chrysler advocate called yesterday. He said they would allow a jeep specialist to come in to look at this issue and try to solve. Why do they keep acting like they have never heard of this issue before. I guess we shall see.

My 2013 had the smoke issue and now it doesn't. Only change was the catch can.

Well, I had the oil pan/windage tray warranty repairs done a few weeks ago and I can now confirm without a doubt that the vehicle STILL smokes at startup.

Joe think what you want my friend but the Catch Can has ZERO to do with the smoking problem.
