It's not a matter of what i think. I just stated that my 2013 smoked at startup and did so until I installed the catch can.
If it's not the PCV system then what is it?

Did you by any chance see the new pan?

Nope. The chrysler service rep that I've been dealing with on the phone said that she was told the new oil pan is deeper. But, when the dealer went to perform the repair, they took the old pan off and compared it to the new one and said that they were the same depth. Conflicting information. Also, the pcv valve was replaced (supposedly with a re-designed one) last August and it didn't make any difference either.

When they changed my oil pan they said it had some differences in its shape. The oil does sit lower in the pan and this was confirmed when the dipstick now registered oil lower on the stick. Did you see this on yours? Although mine still smokes sometimes and Chrysler has basically washed their hands. They claim there is no other fix. What did you hear at your dealer?

How many miles do you have on yours? I hit 2000 last week and it has not smoked since then. Going to keep watching while Chrysler tries to figure out what they are going to do about it.

Peckmv, my full oil reading now seems to be just barely out of the "add" part of the dipstick, pretty much just on the line. I haven't had time to discuss the continued smoking with the dealer or call chrysler yet.

HtownBB, the jeep currently has about 3000 miles on it. My driveway has a slight incline and the vehicle smokes about 2-3 times a week (that I notice). It seems to do it more when the weather warms up here.

AKHLK, thats exactly where my oil is now on the dipstick. Its about a 1/16 of an inch above the "ADD" mark. Since Chrysler won't give me a correct dipstick, I am going to grind off the factory full / add marks and make new ones on the back side with the correct levels. I'm so pissed at Chrysler on this. I have been putting up with this since October 2011. I'm done with these bozo's.

Re: Major smoke out of exhaust

I had the smoke in a big way when I first brought the 2014 home. Left it running for a few minutes on our inclined driveway. Killed every mosquito on the block... Now have about 3,000 miles on the hemi and it hasn't smoked like that since...

Re: Major smoke out of exhaust

Well, I thought after I hit the 2000 miles mark it stopped, but it did it again this morning. Still no work from Chrysler on what they are going to do about it.

Re: Major smoke out of exhaust

Open a care case with Chrysler now. get the ball rolling. They will tell you, we have not heard of this issue before. First time. Just stay on them. My gut feeling is they don't know how to fix it.

I told my case manager yesterday it will be out of warranty before they get ahold of the service director at the dealership.
