Re: Major smoke out of exhaust

Great job! It's unfortunate that you had to go that step but you did what you had to. As I've said, Chrysler should invest the money they collect from increasing the GC prices towards QC and taking care of their customers.

There's no point to adding shifts and pumping out more vehicles at higher prices and putting out an inferior product. These aren't cheap vehicles and customers expect and should demand better customer service at the dealer and coporate level

Are you listening Chrysler?

Re: Major smoke out of exhaust

Update: I got the Jeep back last friday, my wife had a dr appointment so I didnt have time to check the car myself so I just grabbed the car and left. well saturday morning the same thing happened. so back to the dealership on monday. I received a rental car and left the jeep at the dealership. about an hr after i left I received a call from the service dept stating that STAR responded to the latest incident and they stated that I should pick up the car and drive it for a couple thousand miles to see if it is burning oil other then the stated acceptible amount. well at that point I told the Service Manager that I would come pick the car up knowing in my head that I would drive right to the BMW dealership down the street and by a car that has a stellar service and warranty dept. the service manager told me to wait about an hr as he had asked the tech to pull the plugs to see if they were clean... what?? they were waiting until 2 weeks after I complained about burning oil to check the spark plugs??? I am not a mechanic but my basic knowledge of lawnmowers has taught me that if the smoke is blue check the plug. anyways about an hr after that he called me back and told me that half the plugs were clean and half were fouled, at that point he told me to keep the rental becasue there was clearly something wrong with the car. FINALLY anyways it is now friday night and I am still in the rental, but I do have more news to report as I received a call from my service manager that told me that there was an internal email from the STAR engineer to the tech working on my jeep where he told the tech to tell me not to park or drive on an incline, well I guess that chrysler QC was monitoring this whole situation because chrysler stepped in and had some choice words for that engineer and escalated the issue. I then received a call from chrysler corp at home this afternoon from a woman that stated she had my file and was reviewing the situation but unfortunately my wife deleted the message before i got home from work so I have to wait until they call back. I wonder whats going to happen next.

Re: Major smoke out of exhaust

I find this totally unnaceptable for a freaking 45,000 dlls (610,000 mexican pesos) vehicle.... Sadly im in this car for at least 2 more years !! So now inhave to rebuild my home entrance and avoid any hills.... Is anyone from San Francisco seeing smoke from their jeeps?.? As of today this is the only issue i have found with 5000 kms in the clock! Other than a minor squeak and front end miss aligmnet

I now have 11k miles and still blowing smoke. Is there any way I can contact someone at corporate level so they can help me. The dealers are reluctant to help.

Michael Manley is the CEO of the Jeep brand. Why not start there?

Re: Major smoke out of exhaust

I just took our 2011 JGC Overland in for oil change and transmission shudder, tech found a service bulletin for a software upgrade and performed the upgrade. As I'm leaving the dealer I attempt to accelerate onto the main road and can't see behind me because of the HUGE amount of smoke pouring out of the tail pipes!!!! I return to the dealer, and they do a very basic check (oil level, visual inspect for leaks) and their tech gets into the Jeep and proceeds to go out and aggressively test drive it. Several of the dealership staff are there to witness the HUGE cloud of smoke still coming out of the Jeep. A few mins later he returns, it is no longer smoking, and says he doesn't know why it was smoking but because I have the good warranty I should just drive it until it blows up! They tell me they don't know what is wrong and I can go...

Ask them to put that in writing, or fix it - their choice.

Re: Major smoke out of exhaust

here is the crazy thing. My dealership has told me that mine is an isolated incident and that no one else has had this issue. I am thinking I need to contact a class action lawsuit attorney to track down all 2011 WK2 owners, ask them to test their vehicles and lets see how many owners are really having this issue. I think its alittle more then chrysler is willing to acknowledge right now.
