Re: Malfunction indicator light on- only 300 miles

Went to the dealer today and they let me know there was a minor leak (I forgot from what part) but they are going to get the part and install it tomorrow. Will post more details once it's finished.

Re: Malfunction indicator light on- only 300 miles

The dealer ended up having to replace the ESIM switch. The code that was pulled from the computer is below:

FAULT P0456 EVAP SYSTEM LEAK DETECTED

The parts and the part number they installed are below:

DETECTOR #52855827-AB
SEAL VAPO #52129436-AA

Re: Malfunction indicator light on- only 300 miles

good to know...I'm hoping this is what's triggering mine to randomly appear and then off every few weeks.

I beat you! My MIL came on with only 291 miles on it. It's at the dealer now. They told me it was caused by a small evaporative emissions leak. May take over a day to fix. I'll be sure to get the code that caused the alarm. I also ordered a code reader so if it happens again I can decide wether I need to call the dealer immediately or wait for a more convenient time. Spent two hours at the dealer and ended up with a loaner car.

Re: Malfunction indicator light on- only 300 miles

Got my car back. The code was P0456 and they found a service port plug not installed. I guess the car runs these leak checks at certain intervals so I'll have to wait and see if that was the problem. The dealer thinks the large leak code should have come in not the small leak code (P0456), but according to him these test are all dependent on gas tank level and other things so who knows.

Re: Malfunction indicator light on- only 300 miles

My MIL light came on 3 days ago as well. I only have 4,600 miles on my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4. I took it into the dealership today and the technician plugged in a scanner, told me it was a "slight emissions leak detected," said it was not active and only occurred once 3 days ago. He then went ahead and reset the system to turn off the light. He also added that this happens somewhat often due to a gas seal with the cap-less systems - in that the valve sticks open when fueling. Kind of Mickey Mouse if you ask me. I would rather have the old manual gas cap system back if this is going to be an issue from time to time.
