Re: MaxCare Warranty??

And the latest. Recieved the plan promised on the 26th and still says "not transferrable".

I just spoke with "JP" at Chrysler (who is not a lawyer) who used many words (in my opnion) to say that Chrysler did not consier my lifetime "service contract" to be tranferrable under Forida statutes because it was purchased online from a dealer in Wisconsin.

I formally (expect it was recorded) requested a written statement of the Chrysler position.

One rationale given was that Florida requires insurance to be sold at MSRP but to be best of my knowlege service contracts (see Fla Statutes title XXXVII section 634.011 (8) for a definition of service agreements and what is included) sold in the state on or after July 1, 2011 “be accompanied by a written disclosure to the consumer that the rate charged for the service agreement is not subject to regulation by the office” -in fact that's part of the Chrysler documentation.

They have offered a prorated refund based on 3 of 10 use (am still inside 3/36 but they use interesting definitions) so about 70% less fees.

Still have no desire to sell so going to be interesting to see what happens.

Can any one provide an instance where Florida required Chrysler to transfer a lifetime service plan/contract purchased from an online provider ?

ps I did find out one thing. Florida does not require a provider to sell a plan for MSRP. They require it to be sold for what ever rate (which I expect may include discounts) they file with the state.

Re: MaxCare Warranty??

Curiouser and Curiouser

Just spent quite some time on the phone with Florida department of insurance.
There are two service contract companies listed for Chrysler, CHRYSLER SERVICE CONTRACTS FLORIDA, INC. 60130 and CHRYSLER GROUP SERVICE CONTRACTS LLC 65505
(see https://apps8.fldfs.com/IFileExternalSearch? & do a "quick search" on the names.)

The first company (60130) made many rate filings prior to 2010. The second (65505 and mentined on the service plan forms) began in 2010 but appears to have never filed any rates. The young lady I talked with said that was because as of 2011 (see earlier postings) they were no longer required to file any rates.

Would someone please tell me where this "Florida requires plans to be sold at MSRP" comes from since they do not appear to be being filed as to what MSRP is ? This is really getting confusing.

This sounds like a situation where a phone call to the Florida Bar Association asking for recommendations for lawyers familiar with the peculiarities of your state might be worth the typically low initial consultation fee.

Re: MaxCare Warranty??

Not yet at least for me, I have no plans to sell the GC, suits me perfectly, but at some point in the distant future when I can no longer drive it might be given to a close friend or relative. So NP if it takes a year or so to get all of the ducks lined up properly.

Someone else here may have a more urgent need but I enjoy doing research and have no reason to stop digging.

Besides I do not need to call the bar association to talk to a good lawyer.

Re: MaxCare Warranty??

I just purchased the lifetime warranty for $2500 and 0%finance for 18 months on my 14 altitude that had 8,000 miles on it.
This jeep is a keeper so it seems to be a great deal

Re: MaxCare Warranty??

What affects the price of the plan? Just did a quote online and it came back at $3,415 for the lifetime. I have a '15 JGC Altitude with less than 300 miles. Can Clay do better?

I call bs on these quotes. I was quoted 3500 at the time of purchase and somehow they had a deal in the finance dept. Talk to the dealer like I did via phone and get your quote :-)

I got mine from Tyson motors in Shorewood, IL

Well the dealership said I could get it for $2,715 at the time of purchase but I have 60 days to purchase it through them. What did you end up paying inner?

Re: MaxCare Warranty??

Probably should mention that since I have a pretty good shop, I went with the Added Care + "lifetime" plan for significantly less money. Figure that plus the $100 deductable is a lot of light bulbs.

Does help that I live in a place where rust isn't.

BTW they say "lifetime" but is really term plan like any other plan. Just mine expires in 2095

Start Date:2012-01-31
Expiration Date:2095-04-29
Expiration Mileage:999999

Interesting part is that even though the plan was purchased in December '12, it shows a start date 11 months earlier when I bought the car, do understand they do some creative accounting if you cancel.

Re: MaxCare Warranty??

So I wish I'd found this thread prior to purchasing the Maxcare along with my 2015 SRT...as it turns out I got taken for a total ride (not even going to post the amount I paid as frankly it's embarrassing that I agreed to it given the available cost from Ziegler).

So my question is, since it's only been a week (well within the 60 day full refund cancellation period), can I cancel the current contract with the crook dealer that lied and said this price was fixed from the factory (yes I'm an idiot)? And then just buy it again at the much more reasonable price from Ziegler online?

Or is there some issue where if you cancel the contract you can't just rebuy it again for the same VIN?

Extremely disappointed with myself, but seeing as it seems black and white that the contract can be canceled for full refund within 60 days, I feel as though I should have some options here.

Appreciate any input.

How bout the fact that SRT's are not covered by the maxcare warranty? They are on the exclusion list on the contract
