Missing hood seal?

So in years I have owned this thing, I never noticed till now that there is a rubber seal (lip/gasket?) on the drivers side (right side of photo) under the leading edge of the hood. I assume to divert water away from the air intake. There is no such seal on the passenger side. Is there supposed to be? I don't see any marks like there was one, but that could be because I clean the engine compartment every so often.
Next time one of ya'll pop your hood, I would appreciate you taking a look.

Re: Missing hood seal?

I've got 2 of them and both only have one on the driver's side. I think it's there to keep water and snow out of the air intake.

Re: Missing hood seal?

I took delivery of my special ordered 2015 Summit in November and it only has one seal. I pointed this out to my service advisor shortly after delivery and he assured me that it only comes with one seal, on the drivers side and I was shown several other randomly selected vehicles on the lot for verification.

Correct I know that very early build WK2's did not have the angled piece of foam near the air intake so maybe this strip of rubber was an add at the same time.

The foam piece I knocked off the first time I checked the air filter!
