I've had the same thing happen a few times in 6 months. Brake, Brake, Brake, but no application of brakes was noticed.

Re: MUST READ 2014 Jeep GC Forward Collision \ Adjustable Cruise Control Failure

I can attest to the fact it DOES apply the brakes, I have had this happen twice and I only have 2k miles. I will bring up with dealer with some other things in few weeks.

Mine was clearly an error, brakes were hit hard automatically and scared the %$#^& out of me. Noone in front of me for very very long distance.

Re: MUST READ 2014 Jeep GC Forward Collision \ Adjustable Cruise Control Failure

I love this feature on our Jeep and it definitely applies the brakes. I get to sit in the passenger seat and the car will tell my wife she's driving crazy instead of me getting myself in trouble by telling her

Re: MUST READ 2014 Jeep GC Forward Collision \ Adjustable Cruise Control Failure

Ive had the BRAKE BRAKE BRAKE go off several times and no brakes applied....on my 13 and 14 SRT's. Some like me are reporting nothing...some feel a brake "jerk" and some get full application of brakes????? Weird. Plus I was under the impression there were no brakes applied......oh well.

I can also attest it does apply brakes. I've had it happen once where it applied brakes hard and another where it said brake brake brake but didn't apply. The 2nd time I was already swerving around the guy in a sense. And the one time it applied brakes hard the guy just came to a stop in front of me, saved me from that one. Guess it's situational?!

Re: MUST READ 2014 Jeep GC Forward Collision \ Adjustable Cruise Control Failure

I think it is situational.

We've had it activate 3 times since taking delivery of the Overland (so about three months now) and none of those times could we feel the car actually braking. It's an outstanding feature though and we surely did appreciate it those times.

The manual does state that the system will compensate if it deems that the driver has not applied sufficient brake force and will therefore provide additional force as required.

Maybe some people are slower off the mark than others ie: reflex wise (?) which is perhaps why we didn't feel the car brake itself.

Also, as an aside, but worth noting, the active braking side of things will deactivate after being used 4 times in one driving cycle. It resets upon the next key cycle.

Re: MUST READ 2014 Jeep GC Forward Collision \ Adjustable Cruise Control Failure

Service Tech called me today from dealership, STAR responded to their open inquiry and wants them to try some different test when it is brought in next Monday 9/30. Case is being escalated to Chrysler case manager and I have sent a certified letter to Chrysler stating if they are unable to correct this problem in a “reasonable number of attempts” as that phrase is defined in Maryland’s Automotive Warranty Enforcement Act (Md. Code Ann., Com. Law, 14-1502 (d) ), I will expect you to [repurchase or replace] the vehicle pursuant to 14-1502(c) of the Act.

hopefully it doesn't go there but I have to protect myself, I just want my jeep to work.

It goes back there again on Monday for an overnight stay and the case will be escalated to a case manager from STAR.
I've had mine trigger, and the brake jerk it does will get your attention, but it doesn't do what I'd call hard braking. If I were to take a wag at cause, it would be whatever decides the duration of the brief brake pulse, and how hard.

IIRC it also maintains a bit of brake pressure to keep the pads on the rotor--where possibly something wrong in that area could result in ongoing noticeable braking.

Hmmm, multiple times? I only get one pulse. Maybe the doggone thing can't count?

I'd be interested in how your Star Case indicates it SHOULD work.

My triggers are Boulder cyclists on the crooked canyon roads where if you happen to come around a corner and the bike is pretty much broadside to you as it goes around the next corner, I get the brake brake brake and what to the best of my senses is just a single pulse of the brakes. A noticeable pulse, but it doesn't appear to slow the thing down much.

Mine did warn and brake one time. Scared the crap outta me. I found that setting the warning in Uconnect to Near and unchecking the auto brake function was the trick. Now it just sounds the alarm but does not apply the brake. Glad it is an option in the settings menu.

Dealer found an issue, performed service - driving it now to see how it goes. will keep you posted on outcome. Customer Service was outstanding through Chrysler and the dealership throughout the process.
