My 7day old 2016 Jeep Summit is in the shop

My seven day old 2016 Jeep Gand Cherokee Summit is in the shop with a cylinder mis firing. The worst part is that since it is a new engine they do not know how to fix it. Anyone have any ideas on how long Chrysler will take to figure it out? I guess they have 30 days in the state of Georgia before it becomes a lemon

It will be corrected. Be the squeaky wheel, politely, with your dealer. They will consult with FCA.

Re: My 7day old 2016 Jeep Summit is in the shop

I wouldn't worry too much about it. My dealer here has bent over backwards a few times to get issues resolved, including the back and forth with FCA.

My 7day old 2016 Jeep Summit is in the shop

Open a a case immediately with customer care to get this documented in their system. Make sure you express how much your dissatisfied and upset about this. Usually they will try and throw in a service contract to cover 12 free oil changes to make up for what happened. I would push them to open a STAR case immediately to get this resolved ASAP.

**side note** I went through 6 months of hell with my 2014. Lucky for me I read on a Chrysler 300 forum that if you can find a regional manager in your area, they have the authority to override corporate and your dealer for vehicle replacement. Once I found my regional manager he was able to pull my file to review right away. I honestly don't think I would have been given a new 2015 so easily had I not opened a case with FCA.

I also documented every conversation and or communication I had with my service manager and with customer care. That too went along way to really show how much time had passed with no result. It was a pain in the ass hanging up the phone and every time and typing up the time, date, and conversations, etc... but in the end it was my golden ticket out of my 2014.

Honestly, I have used customer care before and that was a joke! I found another dealer that was great and after multiple trips to them, they got it fixed. Customer care did nothing for me!

Re: My 7day old 2016 Jeep Summit is in the shop

It's pointless me saying "don't worry" I am like a pissed off 5 year old when I don't have my Jeep (our '15 was in the shop 3 times,Dealership was great and issue was fixed on 3rd visit) others on this thread have offered up some accurate and very useful information, and although this may be,eventually, fixed and no further problems,(I am a type A person) keep in CLOSE contact, with me its daily, (unrelated to Jeep, but VERY pertinent to this thread,I had REAL issue with a Chevrolet Dealership over a new 1500 truck and very quickly I ended up firing on all cylinders,Dealership GM,customer care,Regional Manager,I don't think they will EVER tell a customer to "stop calling, when it's fixed we will call YOU" again), while I am sure you won't have the issues I did,but remember YOU OWN that vehicle,be friendly and check in daily. The idea of checking in daily is so you can form your own opinion of what direction YOU want to go forward IF the time comes you feel you have waited long enough. As others have said, and VERY important, document everything, times, dates, who you spoke with.......in case it becomes a recurring problem.Thats VERY unlikely as its not a Fiat Diesel (those who own them, please don't take offense,it's just noted a problem engine and the cause of many buy backs)and it's probably something that will be rectified in one hit,...................but just in case.IAM a Jeep fanatic(own 4) never had one issue with my '11 JGC,but had issue with my '15 that was fixed on 3rd visit and no problems since. But AM realistic enough to know occasionally there are issues and ALOT is based on how the Dealership treats you.Good Luck and I sincerely hope,as do pretty much everyone on this thread, that everything is good in a short period of time.

Re: My 7day old 2016 Jeep Summit is in the shop

Thank you all for your Replies. The vehicle is still not fixed and they currently have no fix. They say it's an electrical problem thats causing one of the Cylinders not to fire. They opened a star file on it and are waiting for Jeep Engineering to tell them how to fix it. They have not had the problem yet because it's a new engine. That's what I get for buying the first year I asked customer care if they would extend the warranty on it, because if it's this new and has a problem what will the future hold. No dice, they said they can't predict the future..Blah
