Re: MY15 Overland. Keyless entry is sh1t

There are times when you can stand next to the vehicle with the fob right there in your front pocket and the vehicle won't lock on the first attempt of pushing the door's lock button. It usually will by the second or third attempt. If not, just moving a little bit to one side or the other of the handle let's the vehicle finally recognize the fob.

Mine's done that since new. Not sure what's going on there. It's a minor annoyance. On the other hand, I've never had an issue unlocking the door by grabbing the handle.

Re: MY15 Overland. Keyless entry is sh1t

I found that if the key fob is in the same pocket as my phone then keyless entry wont work.
As soon as I move it to my other pocket I have no issues.

I'm with you MDBones, same behaviour here. Also, I've got my fob in the same pocket as my phone so it could be interfering.. Thanks for the tip MOFSTEEL.

Re: MY15 Overland. Keyless entry is sh1t

I had the remote on my 2015 become extremely unreliable once. It was in a VERY heavy RF Environment and the vehicle didn't respond to the remote unless it was only a couple of inches away from it.

Normally my remote reaches my vehicle from a couple of hundred feet away but that one incident was the exception.

Re: MY15 Overland. Keyless entry is sh1t

I'm curious if there's an adjustment IN the jeep ( dealer adjusted) to increase/ decrease the range/ sensitivity.

I have no problems unlocking/ locking with the Jeep with the FOB in my pocket, but I'm getting tired locking the doors from the INSIDE and closing door while walking away and getting the 3 horns ( indicating the FOB is "inside" the Jeep)

When I'm in for the latest flash and latest recall, I'll try to find this out.

Re: MY15 Overland. Keyless entry is sh1t

For the second time since I've owned mine, this afternoon I locked the doors with the handle button like I usually do and walked away. I stopped by the rear of the vehicle to look at something and I heard the doors unlock. Only had the fob in my front pocket so I can't figure out what could've accidentally pressed the unlock button. Same as the first time it happened.

I have the same issue with the lock button. I have to stand there and press it like three times before it locks.

Anyone else have this issue?

Huh what?

That's the point. Why press the fob if its in my pocket while i'm carrying my daughter to put her in the car seat? Why can't i just touch the back door handles to unlock?

Re: MY15 Overland. Keyless entry is sh1t

I've had an 11 and now a 14 so I've been using the keyless/passive entry for years and to be honest it is just a little finicky.

A couple of tips:

For entry act as though your doors are unlocked. What I mean by that is just walk up and open the doors. Don't try to do anything special. Don't touch the handle, or press the button. Grabbing the handle to open it should do the trick. If you are having to touch it in any special way it is not working properly.

For locking with the button. You have to make sure the only thing you are touching is the button and you have to be pretty precise. If your finger is touching any other part of the handle it won't work. I find that my 14 limited is little tougher to operate than my 11 laredo was and I think that is b/c the button is chrome and more slick. On the laredo the button was rubber and was just easier to push.

One thing I really miss from the 11 was there was another locking button on the hatch. I used that one the most b/c as I would close the hatch, or walk away from the car it was on my way, whereas with that button missing I have stop and lock it from the drivers door. A very minor complaint.

There is a locking button on the hatch. It's hidden under the cover for the handle that opens the hatch.

Oh nice, thanks! My excuse for not knowing is that I bought it certified and it is missing the manual.

Boooooo! Horrible excuse, especially since they don't come with a FULL manual even when purchased NEW!

Download it!
