Mystery fluid...

G'day fellas,

Did a walk around this morning and noticed this odd fluid front left (RHD) of the vehicle.

Initial thoughts was coolant but it's OAT so definitely not that. Not power steering either.

Could it be refrigerant dye? My understanding the dye had to be observed under a uv light.

Any thoughts?

Re: Mystery fluid...

Not sure what the coolant color is on export models but they didn't start using OAT until the 2013 model year.

Re: Mystery fluid...

thats 100% coolant. There is nothing else that is that color. Coolant dye cant be seen without the UV light.

Re: Mystery fluid...

My coolant is orange OAT...and it has slight oil feel between the fingers, hence why I am stumped.

No dealer service centres are open atm due to a long weekend here in aus.

Re: Mystery fluid...

refrigerant dye is definitly visible WITHOUT a uv light
that is likely what you are looking at see if you can figure out where it came from. does the a/c still work? looks like you may have a hole in the condenser or the piping
uv lights just make it more visable just like a black light poster (if you are old enough to know what that is)

Re: Mystery fluid...

A/C still works and there hasn't been any issues or lights.

It does continue to leak however tracing it has been difficult. Looks like a end cap to one of the radiators, which makes me think it is the A/C.

Oh well, back to replacing the brake fluid and just have to wait for the Stealerships to open.

Re: Mystery fluid...

The system comes loaded with dye from the factory.

Turns out the condenser was cracked and now is getting replaced under warranty.

I also pointed out the front diff was leaking so that will get a new seal.

Re: Mystery fluid...

oil filled motor mount. Some sort of anti vibration mount with a liquid medium. Just guessing at this point. Can't think of anything that color green in that consistency. Looks too thick to be coolant.

Hi there, I have noticed the fog on the inside where the vents are early in the morning and at nights but thought it was the cool weather. How did you know something was wrong with the AC ?
Cheers
