Mystery noise

Been hearing this one for several weeks. A tapping-type noise that sounds as if it is coming from the left rear area, either under car or around wheel well area. The type noise you might hear if something was in that area dragging, or maybe bumping something. Not a very loud noise, but you can hear it. Usually hear it at low speeds, either starting from a stop or slowing down to stop. Might hear a tap-tap for a few seconds then it goes away. Has me baffled. I know if I take it in there is no chance they will hear it.

Thoughts?

Re: Mystery noise

Similar issue. My problem was a sticker on the exhaust pipe that was flapping. I pulled it off, noise went away.

Re: Mystery noise

That is interesting. I looked real good and did not see anything like that.
It is frustrating. Does not happen all the time. But does sound almost like something is under there, tapping/hitting. Like something is stuck under there, flapping and hitting as you drive.

Re: Mystery noise

We had that on our 14 GC. Wife took it to the dealer. They put it on the hoist and said they found a rock on the transmission protection plate. Since the car was fairly new and he put whatever it was right into his pocket, I think it was probably a bolt or something from the factory.
