Re: Need advice. Quadra Lift system has failed for the 3rd time in 3 Months.

Well I am not alone in this world, there are others suffering as well with my problem the best Jeep with a useless Quadra Lift suspension, 3 trips to the dealer and stiill going. SERVICE AIR SUSPENSIOn. I was told a wiring problem, wrong still doing it, waiting for a control board, I have to wait 2 weeks or more to come Down Under.
Is it comming on a rowing boat?. It is a Joke. No spare parts in Australia.

Crossing my fingers that I don't have any problems with my '11 Summit QL. I don't even have 30K miles on it yet though either.

It actually surprises me there are so many problems. Hasn't Mercedes (ML350 and GC share the same platform, right?) had air suspension for forever? My old boss had it on his '04 S500 AMG and I assume that wasn't even close to being the first year.

I just hope I never have as much trouble as those with the '14 are having. Those damn things are cursed! Had mine in for the intermediate shaft TSB and mentioned I really liked the looks of the '14. Service guy told me stay away for at least until the '15 model year because the '14 was garbage...too many problems. Rough...

Trust me, that generation S-Class was riddled with air suspension issues. My father had a '00 and had the suspension changed out twice under warranty.
As far as the '14's go, I truly believe they were boned to increase profits. Management told the engineers to "take it from where the customer can't see it, and add some doodads to convince them they are getting a better vehicle. We need to maximize profits as we are going public in CY '14". This is my opinion of course, but I truly believe it. I thought it the first time I looked at a '14 Summit.
For example, the saddle interior didn't disappear because no one wanted it, it was too expensive to produce. Talk to any Jeep dealer and they will tell you that customers come in all the time asking for it, only to be told it was discontinued..I have had a zillion cars with leather, and after 43k miles, I cannot believe how this interior has held up.

Re: Need advice. Quadra Lift system has failed for the 3rd time in 3 Months.

My saga continues. Jeep has been at the dealership for another two weeks trying to fix the suspension problem. They can't figure out why the fuse is blowing, and they blew another compressor while in the shop. Now they are trying to replace the sensors. Ready to trade it in for something without the air suspension.

I Was just wondering. How do you all know that the compressor is coming on and off? Does it make some sort of noise?

I think your statements are ridiculous. So do you think that 8 speed zf transmission is cheaper than the old 5 speed? What about the Led self leveling headlights? What about the 8.4 inch uconnect screen or the 7inch thin film
Display in the cluster? What about offering the swade headliner in the summit? I could go on and on but what really made the difference was getting rid of that ugly saddle interior. Do you really think it cost that much to offer a saddle interior? The 2014's did have some early software issues because everything was new but I can tell you they are a big step forward from the 11 to 13 models.

Other than the transmission it makes sense that what was done to the 2014 will save money. LCD displays are CHEAP so it probably actually saves money to have a LCD show instrument cluster info, HVAC, etc. and the 2011-2023 have the self leveling HID lights, they just lack the LED surround. They did away with the flipper glass, more costly saddle interior...

No it doesn't make sense. Do you really think those big Displays cost less than the old one? That big 8.4 inch radio costs less than the old one? I would agree that getting rid of the flipper glass and the chrome body side molding and the chrome brow about the license plate would be cost saving measures. If you look at it overall though a lot more went into the 2014. I don't why you guys can't just say that your happy with your 2011 or 12 or whatever you have instead of trying to justify it with these ridiculous statements.

I absolutely believe that an LCD display is less costly than a mechanical instrument cluster and moving controls from buttons and switches to soft keys on a LCD saves money. It will always be cheaper to have a display do multiple functions than include more mechanical buttons and switches.

Well you can believe it all you want but that doesn't mean your right. I was reading an interview about the use of the thin film displays in the cluster and a question was asked why they don't use it for the whole cluster and the answer was cost. Its not just the display its all the electronics that drive it. As far as the radio and HVAC controls they have both switches and touch screen so I really don't think that was cheaper. I always find it funny how people try to convince themselves that what they have is better.
