Re: Need Help - Gas Tank Skid Plates

OK here's the deal;

For those who would like to add all the metal skids that come with a Grand Cherokee equipped with the X3F skid package **Skid Plate Group (Fuel Tank, Transfer Case, Front Suspension, Underbody)** you need;

1. Front axle skid plate Mopar part#82211995 **

2. Tranfer case skid plate Mopar part#82211994 ** **These all come as kits from the accessory catalog w/installation bolts & instructions included**

3.Fuel tank skids R/L Mopar part# 82211999 **

4. Part# 68069365AA {X3F} MSRP $70.20 This is the skid that comes as a plastic shield on non X3F equipped Grand Cherokees!
This part # is for the metal skid NOT the plastic shield that some of you have cut to remount with the other metal skids!

Edit;
It seems Jeep has a new part# for the transfer case and fuel/brake line skid strip. They are now packaged together, under a new part #!
The new part# is 82211994AB MSRP $98.30

Thanks for that. You forgot one thing, the trail rated badge.

Re: Need Help - Gas Tank Skid Plates

What is the quality of the factory skid plates know what gauge steel they are? From pictures looks like stamped sheet metal. I have armor on my wrangler that is 1/4'' steel,wondering if its close to that thickness.

Re: Need Help - Gas Tank Skid Plates

Not close to 1/4" armor, I'd say 1/8~3/16" stamped & powder coated steel plate would best describe the OEM skids.
Still pretty sturdy, and much better than nothing or the plastic shields all Grand Cherokees have now.

Ok, I'm a little confused. So if I get all the three parts and install them I don't need to cut any plastic shields as was mentioned earlier? And do I need the fourth part?

You'll need all 4 parts to get the complete package without cutting anything. If you just order the 3 kits you have to trim the stock plastic fuel line skid plate. The 4th part number is the steel fuel line skid plate that comes with the skid plate equipped WK2s

That is correct, you will have to trim the fuel/brake line plactic skid strip that came with a non X3F skid plate equipped Grand Cherokee when mounting the three skid plate "kits".

Or you could order all four parts and mount them, removing the plastic skid-strip and discarding it.

Re: Need Help - Gas Tank Skid Plates

Ok got it, thanks for the info. BTW has anyone who installed the skid kit noticed any difference in driving/handling or mileage or any negative effects from the skit kit?

I need to order that forth skid plate for the fuel lines now I know it exists! Hopefully it won't be to bad to slip that in with the other skid plates already installed...

Should bolt right up with no problems! Use the bolts that hold the plactic skid strip you have now with the new metal skid.

Re: Need Help - Gas Tank Skid Plates

Ok Guys i Ordered Said Part # "4. Part# 68069365AA {X3F} MSRP $70.20 This is the skid that comes as a plastic shield on non X3F equipped Grand Cherokees! This part # is for the metal skid NOT the plastic shield that some of you have cut to remount with the other metal skids!" and it fit perfectly without to much hassel and it completes the X3F Equipment Package so Full Skids Installed! I Took Some Pics but it was a night in the cold so ill take some in the AM when its light out!

PS: The Parts guy told me in the Computer its Listed for a 2012 not 2011 for some reason and its listed as a Skid Strip, but as you can see works fine if you want to get rid of the dremeled plastic Fuel Line Cover.
