Need some help

Hello everyone. I'm new to the site. I have a 2012 GC Laredo X-V6. Love the jeep. Was running great until this weekend when my wife took it out for a spin. . She ended up banging the passenger side gas tank. Now it has a dent and something inside the tank is loose. Any ideas what's inside the passenger side tank? Gas gauge seems to be working fine. Car is running fine other than noise inside tank when you brake a little hard. What do you guys think is going to happen if I take it in to dealer? Scared that might not be covered by warranty since gas tank has dent

You can count on it not being covered by the warrenty. The gas tank has a baffle inside of it to reduce the splashing noise. It sounds like this might have been broken loose.

Re: Need some help

Many years ago my wife took my ( at that time a new car) to work and locked the keys in it
She had the security guard try to unlock it with a coat hanger and torn up the weather trim around the driver,s door. It was 2 days old with less than 200 miles on it.

Warranty doesn't cover wife error. :-(.

Re: Need some help

I would be real curious as to how she managed to dent the tank.

I thought the tanks were plastic?

Re: Need some help

Thanks for the replies. She ended up getting a flat tire on the passenger rear side. A Good Samaritan helped her changed tire but placed jack on tank. Smh. . So it dented it slightly. Something got loose inside the tank. If I bang on tank I hear a clunking in there.

Tank seems to be plastic but a very strong grade as it can hold up the jeep. Lol

Re: Need some help

I would start by looking for the "good smaritan" that lifTed your jeep by placing the jack under the tank instead of the DESIGNATED LIFT POINTS AS SHOWN IN THE MANUAL AND CLEARLY IDENTIFIED BY AN ARROW !!!! He owes you around 800~900 USD for the new tank pluss the hassle to take jeep to shop, have the vehiicle stuck there for a few hours, plus the labor cost of re-installing the fuel pump, hoses, cannister and vent the cannister lines.... I would pefer to tear up the tire !
