New 2011 Overland relay clicking noise

After much auto research I decided on a Jeep - never had one before so this is all new to me. Trying to get use to is and all its bells and whistles - I must say I do like it but its quite a bit different than my last two Nissan Murano's.

Any way I have this clicking noise like a relay trying to figure out something in the drivers side dash. It does not do it all the time, seems mostly when I take off after a mile or so then it does it for a minute or two and goes away, I think. The car only has 250 miles on it so I'm trying figure these things out not sure if its normal but is a little annoying. Yes I can crank up the tunes and the noise is gone (sweet tunes)

I looked under the dash and in the engine compartment where I think the noise is coming from but did not see any relays

Any ideas?

Taken from www.wk2jeeps.com under the Technical Service Bulletin's section. Maybe this is what you are hearing?

Quote:
Electronic Stability Control (ESC) Clicking Noise
The driver may notice a clicking sound coming from the front or underneath the vehicle. This occurs when the vehicle is traveling above 35 mph and during the first portion of a drive cycle. The ESC system will run a calibration routine and if the driver lifts off of the gas pedal, the ESC system will stop the test because the drive may need to brake. The clicking sound is the valves in the ESC system. Once the calibration routine is successful, the noise will not return until the next ignition cycle. Once the ESC system has learned 50 times, the calibration will not be run during every ignition cycle. The sound may also become less noticeable over time. This sound is normal and no service needs to be done.

I have this sound too. Weird thing is it seems to go away when I shutoff climate control. Might just be a coincidence. Or something funky going on in the digital climate control box. I have about 500 miles on my 2011 GC.

thanks!!

Anybody have any updates on this noise? Last month, we bought a brand-new 2012 Grand Cherokee Ltd. It only had 15 miles on it. We're at 900 on the odometer now. I've taken it to the dealership for a clicking noise that sounds like it is coming from under the shifter and 4wd selector between the front seats. I generally put it in "sport" mode. But it still makes the same clicking noise even when in another mode. Typically happens after start-up, but eventually stops. It will immediately stop if I turn the climate control system off. The dealership can't find anything (no TSBs, etc), so they're worthless. And the Jeep had been running most of the morning when I took it in, so it didn't make the noise for the tech to hear. Any ideas or help!? This is our first Jeep and love it - minus the irritating noise!

Re: New 2011 Overland relay clicking noise

Hello Everyone,

I actually have a 2011 that I got in 2011 and I just started to hear this clicking noise that sounds like its on the drive side underneath the dash. It only happens when I turn on the A/C. The only thing different is that I disconnected the battery about 3 to 4 weeks ago to remove the intake system and replaced it with a K&N intake.
Any updates.
