Cool New Jeep With issues

Ok well i just purchased my New V6 Rugged Brown/Saddle Brown Overland Summit and i can say that i made the right choice over a Tahoe and a used Range rover.Unfortunately the truck already has problems which i am sacred about because on my last new car i had problems the day i got it and it was a lemon but i never filed because of lack of time. The center knob that shuffles you from certain terrains is not working and certain options arent working.

1. I have my options set on doors unlock and lock but it seems they only lock after 20mph and never unlock? anyone else have this problem? Are they supposed to unlock when shifted into park or slow down because mine never does.
2. Can anyone explain to me on how to open the rear glass window? if you cant i am sorry again i am new to this whole forum and jeep thing.
3.My fog lights are yellow want to get white ones, quick question do i need to take my bumper off? and if not does anyoen have any bulbs as a reccomendation bright white?

Sorry if i inconvenience anyone and just glad to be part of the new jeep community...

Re: New Jeep With issues

welcome

1. mine only unlock when I grab the handle to get out and lock when getting to 15 mph or so. I didn't mess with the EVIC setting though.
2. there is a button to the right of the license plate under the overhang to open the glass.
3. No idea, mine came with white bulbs. I would hope you can change a light bulb without ripping the bumper off, that would suck.

Re: New Jeep With issues

1) I don't remember offhand; I know mine unlock when one of the front doors is opened.

2) There's a small rubber button on the underside of the little lip above the rear license plate, just to the right of the vehicle's centerline (this is NOT the lock/unlock button on the door's face). With the vehicle unlocked, pressing that button will unlock the rear glass. Just lift it up. Closing the glass will automatically re-latch it. Earlier build models have a rear glass unlock button on the key remote, but due to confusion with the button for the power liftgate (people kept hitting the glass unlock and then wondered why the tailgate wouldn't go up), they deleted that button.

3) Mine are white; you may just need a bulb swap (haven't seen yellow ones, so no idea). There's a little hatch inside the front wheel well that you should be able to open up and gain access to the backside of the fog light assembly.

From the owner's manual (the one you have to order because they don't include it with the car), page 34:

Auto Lock: "your door locks will lock automatically when the vehicle speed is above 15 mph (24 km/h) and all doors are closed."

Auto Unlock: "this feature will unlock all the doors when the driverís door is opened if the vehicle is stopped and in PARK or NEUTRAL."

Are you sure you are looking at the white fog light low in the bumper, or the yellow directional light in the headlight pod? Sorry if that seems to be a dumb question... but is this an international spec vehicle or USA spec?

Nope. It does not auto unlock when you put it in Park. It'll auto unlock when you put it in Park AND open one of the front doors.

From your original posts, you mentioned your new Jeep is experiencing problems? What are they? You only listed things that aren't problems, but how-to questions. You mentioned your selec-terrain not working. What happens when you rotate the knob to one of the other selections? What were you expecting it to do that it isn't doing?

btw, welcome. It's no inconvenience to anyone. We're all here to help each other.

The manual says it has to be the driver door, not the front passenger door.

Re: New Jeep With issues

I believe any door will open when you grab the handle but the unlock of all the doors only happens when the driver's door is opened. This is a security feature and I would NEVER want the doors to unlock when the vehicle is put in part. Imagine pulling into a dark parking lot and having your doors unlock before you actually want to exit the vehicle, not a good thing. It may be a sad commentary on our society but there's no way I would transport precious cargo (my family) if I didn't have complete control of when the vehicle unlocks.

NO, When this feature is selected, all doors will unlock when the vehicle is stopped and the transmission is in the PARK or NEUTRAL position and the driverís door is opened (FROM THE INSIDE).

From the outside, without the FOB (meaning someone is outside the vehicle while you are inside) they can pull on the handles all whey want, the doors will not open.

Now, if you want to know what happens when you press "unlock" on the FOB, that sequence is controlled by the Remote Unlock Sequence setting.

From the manual (available online through the Jeep site, owners section)

Quote:
Remote Unlock Sequence
When Unlock Driver Door Only On 1st Press is selected,
only the driverís door will unlock on the first press of the
RKE transmitter UNLOCK button. When Driver Door 1st
Press is selected, you must press the RKE transmitter
UNLOCK button twice to unlock the passengerís doors.
When Unlock All Doors On 1st Press is selected, all of
the doors will unlock on the first press of the RKE
transmitter UNLOCK button. To make your selection,
scroll up or down until the preferred setting is highlighted,
then press and release the SELECT button until a
check-mark appears next to the setting, showing that
setting has been selected.

NOTE: If the vehicle is equipped with Keyless Enter-
N-Go (Passive Entry) and the EVIC is programmed to
Unlock All Doors 1st Press, all doors will unlock no
matter which Passive Entry equipped door handle is
grasped. If Driver Door 1st Press is programmed, only
the driverís door will unlock when the driverís door is grasped.

With Passive Entry, if Driver Door 1st Press is
programmed touching the handle more than once will
only result in the driverís door opening. If driver door
first is selected, once the driver door is opened, the
interior door lock/unlock switch can be used to unlock
all doors (or use RKE transmitter).
