Re: New Member with a 2012 WK2 V6 engine.

Thank you again for your quick reply. Do you think this whine could be the electronic stability control engaged during lane changing or during turns? Anyway the first checkup is in December, as recommended by other viewers. I will ask about the speed control and electronic stability control. I did notice that the whine is gone with the electronic stability control turned off. However, it is hard to pen point the problems when the whine does not occur on a regular basis.

I do have another whistling sound noticeable from outside the Jeep at idle when warm (need to get it to the dealer for an extended visit to track down). I don't think it's the same sound that I'm hearing at highway speed.
I also hear a very feint whine at hwy speeds, when climate control is on and only during light acceleration or hill climbing. It is almost inaudible and can't be heard at all when the radio is on. I do not hear any whistling from outside when idling so they're probably not related. I don't think it is related to the ACC either.

Re: New Member with a 2012 WK2 V6 engine.

Dear All,

With nearly a 1000 miles on my JGC, this whining sound suddenly disappeared on its own. I tried to make the noise recur with the speed control engage or turned off. Perhaps this could be that the JGC is broken in. All this happened without dealer intervention. I know that this is low milage for nearly two months of ownership, but I have been told that new engines should not be driven continuously for the first 1000 miles.

Re: New Member with a 2012 WK2 V6 engine.

Hi All,
I have exactly the same problem on my new V6 WK2 that i picked up few days ago. I was wondering if any of you guys was able to identify the cause and remedy of this issue. What i am facing is exactly what was described in this thread, i hear the whining noise when i take my foot of the gaz (decelerate) at highways speeds. I am checking the issue with the dealer however the initial response they had was not promising.

Re: New Member with a 2012 WK2 V6 engine.

The whistling noise I described above totally disappeared at around 5000 miles.

Re: New Member with a 2012 WK2 V6 engine.

Thank you for the reply, i just came back from the dealership today, one guy tested the car with me and surprisingly the noise was too low to be even noticed. Luckily i had a video taken with my phone where the noise was high enough for them to believe my complain At the end, they advised me to wait till my first service is due and then if the sound persists they will check it ... I just hope that the sound will disappear on its own, i guess for now i will just wait...

Did the whine reappear after your first tire rotation?

Re: New Member with a 2012 WK2 V6 engine.

Actually my tires were newly installed on day 1 by the dealer since stock tires were vibrating a lot. I have only driven it for about 500 miles and i didnt rotate the tires yet.

In my case, no. It is apparently gone for good.
