Re: New Tsb for steering thud

I emailed them the TSB and they order the parts (two week lead time). Now I need to take in the Durango.

Re: New Tsb for steering thud

Anyone mechanically inclined enough to tell me exactly what's involved in replacing the shaft? I'm just always leery of getting something else scratched/broken in the process.

Re: New Tsb for steering thud

My issue seems similar. When going at slow speeds and applying the breaks, I get a thud, but more like its coming from the rear of the vehicle. Is this the same issue? Only happens once in a while...

Re: New Tsb for steering thud

My thud is felt through steering wheel when turning usually at slow speeds only. Just a very small thud. Does that sound like the steering shaft issue? Thanks

You may be hearing gas sloshing in the fuel tank or spare tire moving

it's definitely a thunk, not a sloshing or tire moving. Dealer says its the TSB, and ordered the parts.

Re: New Tsb for steering thud

I just had this TSB completed today and the problem is gone. It was so minor that I didn't want to bring it up to the dealer until I came across this TSB

I have this same issue on a 2012 GC Laredo X. My build dates October 2012. Is it possible that such a new vehicle has this issue?

Re: New Tsb for steering thud

I feel this only ever so slightly (no noise just the movement of the steering wheel shaft) on a January 2012 build.
Will the dealer honor the TSB? It states that it applies to vehicles built before July 1st 2011.
