I guess Jeep has approved a replacement radio. Waiting for it to get in.

Re: Noise from 8.4AN RA4 Head Unit in 2014 JGC

Was sitting in my jeep this morning waiting for a meeting, heard a definite squeaking noise, after all electronics had cycled off. Was noticeable enough to grab my attention while reading a book. Definitely doesn't sound like a fan...

That's it you have the squeaky little gremlin in there also.

After my truck had sit for ~2hrs, I had to get something out from it. it was parked in the garage, so it was unlocked and I did not have my fob anywhere near me. After getting what I needed out of the truck, I noticed that the noise came on after 30-45 seconds. I usually hear it after shutdown. Guess I woke up the gremlin.

Re: Noise from 8.4AN RA4 Head Unit in 2014 JGC

Took my JGC in this morning to the dealership. They are replacing the head unit. They are also addressing the N58 recall and a paint bubble issue on my rear passenger door by wet sanding or completely re-painting the door.

I would be furious if they repainted my brand new jeep.

What would the other solution be in order to correct the defect if it couldn't be fixed adequately with methods other than repainting? No sense being furious...they're correcting the issue.

because a repaint is never the same or as good and will likely age differently and you will be the one with that different tinted door a few years from now even if they do use the exact same paint code. if they have to do it then they have to do it but I would be pissed that there was a need to do that to my brand new jeep.

Understood...and valid concerns. But if there's no other way to do the repair getting pissed is just causing stress without a better outcome from it

yeah if it is something bad enough to need to have a door repainted it should have never made it past QC unless it was damaged in transit. I am good with them fixing up most issues with out getting spun up but paint is a different story, it may look good when they give it to you but give it a couple years chances are it wont.

Let me know if the noise is gone when you get your truck back. Thanks.

Re: Noise from 8.4AN RA4 Head Unit in 2014 JGC

I just picked up my JGC. The positive. N58 is done and paint issue was resolved by whatever miracle they performed without having to re-paint the door. The radio was replaced but I am still getting the Star Trek noise after vehicle goes dormant AND receiving "Vehicle phone requires service" message after start-up. I have only seen that happen a few times in the past. Time to update my UConnect case manager...
