So you have the Star Trek noise with the new radio also?! crazy, makes me wonder if that is a software issue with 13.38.52 instead of hardware issue. Glad to hear they did not repaint your door that's good news. What was the build date on your Jeep?

Yes, new radio and noise is still there. New radio came with 13.38.52. Vehicle build date is 6/13.

Talked to UConnect case manager and dealership. There is already a Star case open. Their people will talk to the Chrysler people and I'm sure I will be back at the dealership.

Let us all know what they say, I am very curious of what this is now. maybe not radio at all but one of the other pieces of electronics in the close proximity ??

Re: Noise from 8.4AN RA4 Head Unit in 2014 JGC

Out of curiosity... what is the concern with the noise unless you sit in your car for long periods of time with it off and it could potentially be like slow painful torture?

Just a concern that something is always alive and kicking and could drain the battery?

The primary concern was a hit on the battery since it seems to never stop until you interrupt it by opening a door, starting the ignition, etc. I realize their is a constant slight battery drain to keep other electronic components alive but at least they are not shrieking.

I was just about ready to call it quits on this but my UConnect case manager kept pursuing it until Chrysler agreed to replace the radio unit. I would have hoped while they had all of that tore out during replacement they could have determined what the source of the noise is. Kinda baffles me how the service center didn't check to see if the noise persists after the replacement and missed the startup phone needs servicing message that now appears.

because that is how they think, they got an order to tear out a radio and put a new one in and that's what they did who cares if it fixed the intended problem or not. good dealers are few and far between and in those few good techs are few and far between. so consider the chances of it being done correctly. now they could have stated the radio didn't fix it but now we are going to try xxx but they didn't they just gave it back as if all was fine. sorry just my opinion on how I see dealers continually operate.

Makes sense.

It amazes me how it appears so little post "fix" checking is done.

2nd radio replacement done. The vehicle phone needs serviced message is gone. The noise is still there squealing away. Back to square one.

I bet there is some other component/device in the immediate vicinity that is making that noise. just my guess

Re: Noise from 8.4AN RA4 Head Unit in 2014 JGC

I've captured some video of reproducing the noise. Does someone know how I can contact Chrysler direct and provide the video? My local dealership is not into independent thinking and really has no interest in looking into this further.

Scratch that. I found the Chrysler care number and called it. I was informed that I am in the enhanced care program. I get to take the vehicle in for the seventh time so the dealership service center and Chrysler techs can poke and prod my vehicle.

Re: Noise from 8.4AN RA4 Head Unit in 2014 JGC

Update. My local dealership seems to care about this problem now since I've been escalated up the Chrysler enhanced care chain. My GC has been in the shop since last Thursday. The verdict.. The noise is not coming from the radio/head unit but from behind it. Stellar troubleshooting since they blindly replaced the radio twice without actually looking (listening) for the root cause. Chrysler techs are scratching their heads. They suspect a connector. This is getting interesting.

I suspect the NSA has installed a device to track the vehicle, listen to your phone calls, monitor favorite radio stations, jack with your HVAC, screw with UConnect and cause the EVIC to space out.
