Chrysler techs are scratching their heads. They suspect a connector. This is getting interesting.

I suspect the NSA has installed a device to track the vehicle, listen to your phone calls, monitor favorite radio stations, jack with your HVAC, screw with UConnect and cause the EVIC to space out.
getting interesting let us know what they find

Re: Noise from 8.4AN RA4 Head Unit in 2014 JGC

I called the dealership today and they have been waiting on a response back from Chrysler since last Friday. They randomly picked another 2014 JGC off the lot and was able to reproduce the same noise. Since my Chrysler case manager is out of the office until Thursday I tracked down an alternate in that department. She said basically two things.
- All the Chrysler techs are off on holiday, won't be back until Thursday.
- Looks like the case notes reference the problem as normal operation.

The dealership put the radio back in, as well as did a few unrelated things I asked for, so I guess I'll just pick it up tomorrow. I can't wait for what is communicated on Thursday.

Re: Noise from 8.4AN RA4 Head Unit in 2014 JGC

I think you guys are beating a dead horse on this one.

This has popped up some "other" forums and others noted their BMW/Mercedes were much louder after shutdown, all of the electronics are bound to make some noise spinning down, cooling off, resetting themselves. If so many of them do it I can't really imagine you're going to get to a solution since it doesn't seem of the ordinary and/or not functioning properly.

I would agree if it was explained what is normal and what is generating the noise. At one point I checked three hours later and the noise was still present. The fun thing is I can factory default UConnect and for one cycle (i.e. boots with the SRT logo screen) the noise does not make an appearance after the vehicle is dormant. Is that normal?

Please don't take my initial comment as invalidating your concern. I was looking at it from the frustration and challenge of dealing with dealers/Corporate to potentially get no where.

To your last part, that actually doesn't seem all that outlandish to me that it wouldn't appear after a factory reset and 1 cycle. I am sure some things take a cycle or 2 to wake up, start processing, etc.

I will admit it'll be interesting to hear what the official word is, if they give you one.

No worries. I'll probably just chalk this one up as should have not even bothered to pursue based on the time and frustration involved with the dealership and corporate.

Re: Noise from 8.4AN RA4 Head Unit in 2014 JGC

I put a fork in this one after a call today with Chrysler's enhanced care case management waste of time.

The net-net is dealership root caused the noise to C1 connector to the radio unit. While waiting on Chrysler to send next steps via carrier pigeon they checked another vehicle on the lot and noticed the same noise. Dealership's conclusion is it is normal operation of the vehicle. Chrysler agrees so their case manager has a marathon race with me to see if I will drop out.

Funny how Chrysler agreed and dealer subsequently replaced the radio specifically for this noise issue when all along it was "normal operation" of the vehicle.
