Re: Ohh noooooessss, I have the shudder :(

Converter replacement complete, shudders still exists. Tech thinks it might be the transmission. They need to call STAR to see what is next. I called Chyrysler and escalated my case to another department to see if it qualifies for Lemon Law/Buyback. If it qualifies, not sure what is next as the person on the phone acted as if it were a personal insult for me asking. If it does not, it gets rejected and we keep on trying to fix it.

Re: Ohh noooooessss, I have the shudder :(

so it sounds like they dont deny the issue.....which is half the battle.

fwiw the wk shudders were fixed with software. my 07 4.7 had the same symptoms. 40mph slight incline, soft acceleration brings on shudder. after about 3 years in service they came out with a shudder fix for the 4.7 and it was only partially god. the superchips trans module has corrected the rest.

so IMO its software related.

Re: Ohh noooooessss, I have the shudder :(

Well that's a bummer. Was there any change (slightly better / worse) or is it exactly the same?

If they buyback your car what do you plan to do? Are you going to get another WK2?

Sorry it wasn't the fix we were all hoping for...

Re: Ohh noooooessss, I have the shudder :(

The problem was the same.

Not sure what I would do if they buy back. I really like this Jeep and think I would probably get another one, but at the same time I am gun shy on the Hemi 5spd combo, even though this has been together forever (not really, but you know what I mean).

Depending on timeline I may look at the SRT8 or maybe back to a truck. But the fact the matter is I am not holding my breathe on them buying it back, it is a long shot.

I also feel like the more I play with it shuddering that it is a programming issue. I was really surprised when the torque converter did not fix it. Time will tell, I am sure I will here something tomorrow regarding the fix. And I should hear something in the next 2-3 days regarding the buyback.

I will keep everyone posted. My hope is they do come to a conclusion and can fix the Jeep.

If it is a programming issue, why does it come on for so many after they have put a few thousand miles on the car?

Re: Ohh noooooessss, I have the shudder :(

I would find it really odd if it were a software problem. Mine was very smooth until about 1500 miles.

I was holding off taking mine to see if this fixed it. Guess it's time to bite the bullet.

Re: Ohh noooooessss, I have the shudder :(

Just called the dealer, my service rep is working at another one of there branches until lunch time. She is going to call me after lunch and let me know if Chrysler contacted her back on the next step.

Re: Ohh noooooessss, I have the shudder :(

Sigh

They want me to come back in and so they can do the following test:

1) They want to test the CVI (continuous variable index)
2) See if the right exhaust pipe is touching the frame (LOL, your kidding right?)
3) DTCM actuator test (something about a rolling test).

They asked if I would drop it off, they would put me in a rental and keep it until it is fixed. I declined that at this time. They have been great to work with but I don't want my Jeep sitting there for a long period of time. For one, I have had vehicles sitting in dealerships shops before and they smell afterwards like shop. Also, if I am going to be making my monthly payment, I want to drive it damn it, I don't want some base vehicle. If they can promise me it is only for a day then I am fine. I will be documenting the vehicle condition with HD video, mileage, etc.

Re: Ohh noooooessss, I have the shudder :(

It sounds like they are grasping for straws here. That sucks...

Think carefully about declining the service. If you truly want a buyback you need to have documentation that you complied with every reasonable (and sometimes unreasonable) request to allow them to fix your vehicle. If you say no it may make your case difficult because they can say you were unreasonable about allowing them to fix the vehicle. I know that from your perspective (and mine) that is not the case but it will allow them to make that argument. Just my two cents.... It's not my car that's spending tons of time in the shop. Yet...

Just a thought... I don't know how much time you have to devote to this but I would make them do it on my schedule. I would want to be there for the testing at this point because it sounds like they are using your vehicle to trouble shoot. I am not sure how I would feel about that. You might be getting the full attention of some Chrysler/Fiat engineers but they might be pulling things apart unnecessarily.

The exhaust thing is ridiculous.

Hey have you reached out to Milous at all? I don't know if he could be of any help but maybe he can get you an inside scoop somehow?

Re: Ohh noooooessss, I have the shudder :(

I am not declining any ideas or service, I just wasn't hot on the idea of them keeping the vehicle for an extended period of time. I called the dealer back today and told them I was up for them having it 2-3 days to speed the process up. I have made it a point to be extremely nice to everyone I talk on the phone including chrysler help line, even though at times I had to bite my tongue. Being an a$$ never you gets you anywhere and no one wants to help. I haven't bugged Milius, everyone else keeps him busy enough and I think that is really nice of him.

The Chrysler help line tried calling me today (called my work phone 1st even though I instructed them to call my cell phone 1st) but I was out on the plant floor and got the message later. That was faster than I expected, they said 2-3 days and I expected it to be all of that.

I really do want them to fix the vehicle, I really like it, but at the same time, I don't want to be a guinea pig and have a vehicle that has been taken apart my numerous people (I know of three different people at the same dealership now that have worked on my Jeep )

In all honesty, I would probably buy another Jeep with the terms that if this came up again that I would just want them to take it back. I would work with Chrysler if the dealer would not be willing. Maybe they would, maybe they wouldn't.
