Oil blow by in Air filter?

Went to change the air filter on the '11 WK2 (V8) and noticed oil on the filter. Not sure if this is Pre or Post Catch can install (Catch can has been on for about 8 months or so)

Anyone else get this?

Re: Oil blow by in Air filter?

Probably have not checked it since last oil change ~ which was done by the dealer 3-4 months ago maybe?? They never made mention of it.

I know this is few months old but did you get this resolved? Noticed mine is the same way. New air filter this past June.

Re: Oil blow by in Air filter?

Sorry for the late response - every time I think about checking it... the wife is out in the Jeep or something!
Checked it 10/1/13 and air filter is clean & dry - no oil.

Didn't check the catch can as the engine was hot and I didn't have anything to loosen the can (that thing is tough to get off!)

Re: Oil blow by in Air filter?

me too checked mi air filter this week and noticed the same problem and oil in the cabin.
when i asked they said i might have pushed the jeep too much and the engine threw it out.
i wonder what might be the reason?

Re: Oil blow by in Air filter?

Might not be the problem but check it right before and right after the oil is changed. What can happen is if they add the oil too fast it goes thru the breather hose into the air filter. The opening in the head where the oil is filled is not very big. It fills the port in the manifold and overflows into the breather hose.

Evolv0 is just really nice
Re: Oil blow by in Air filter?

oil gets there from the tube that connects the oil filler cap to the intake right after the filter. I removed this hose and capped off the intake side and out a hose with a valve cover filter on the end of it. works great and no oil in the intake stream. especially with the addition of a catch can.
