Oil filter design change? V6 Pentastar : TSB 09-003-13

About to change oil, long overdue. Came across this TSB, 09-003-13. A bit confused because it says a design change was made to for model year 14 to the cartridge style oil filters on the v6 pentastars.

The TSB lists (2011-2014) WK, and since the v6 engine should be the same from the 2011 - 2013 and new 2014's, the new oil filter design should be used by all of us from 2011+, right?

Anyone have experience with this or insight? Oil filter i have from advance auto doesn't look like the new one in the attached TSB. But i noticed the 2014's do have a different part # and look correct. Thought our engines were the same.

Only 2014s have the new style filter. The TSB is written stupid. They shouldn't list models 2011-2014.

Re: Oil filter design change? V6 Pentastar : TSB 09-003-13

haha yea, thanks. it is misleading. I just changed the oil again and realized that new design filter wouldn't fit in here anyway with this oil cap. Never mind!

i see that the compartment itself has room for the taller filter on 2014's. same engine, diff filter. go figure
