Oil filter question

Heading to Walmart to get oil..

Wondering if I will find the filter I need there or will I need to go to an autozone or dealer for the cartridge style filter? This is my first vehicle with that type..usually just buy Fram from Walmart for my other vehicles..

Suggestions welcomed...

Also I am changing it at 2000 miles to get rid of the break in oil.. Should I reset something or just let the evic tell me the next time(prob around 8000 miles)?

Thanks!
Jon

Re: Oil filter question

Since you have the V6, stick with the Mopar filter. I wouldn't trust an aftermarket filter on such a new engine design.

You're changing the oil, might as well reset the oil minder.

Re: Oil filter question

Stay away from Fram. They are one of the worst filters out there.

Re: Oil filter question

Reset the oil change reminder. Buy a Mopar filter if you are going 8K miles between oil change

Re: Oil filter question

Local dealer sells mopar filters for 6 bucks. Just gonna go with that.. Not sure if I'm gonna go on the 8k interval or stick with 5k like I do with my other cars... I will prob have to do the 6 month thing cause I don't put alot of miles on it.. Does the jeep tell u at 6 month intervals too if you don't go 8k miles?

Mine did. I only put about 5k a year on it. Right at 6 months the light came on.

Re: Oil filter question

Oh cool, thanks, so I guess that I should go ahead and perform the re-set actions then?

I went ahead and had the oil changed yesterday, I went with Mobil-1, I was tempted to go with Royal Purple but at almost $9 per qt. I decided against it, but even with the Mobil-1 it was a $95 oil change... OUCH!!!

As for the OP...
If you have trouble finding a filter at your local part store, you can also ask them to look up the filter for a Chrysler 200... It is the same exact engine... but it would prolly be easier to just stop by your local dealer
