Oil for 5.7 Hemi

I just drove my new 2014 JGC 5.7 off the lot, and I set out to purchase a quart of motor oil just in case the engine burns a little. I did a search and found that many members here like Mobil 1 5W-20. I've relied on M1 in other cars for years, so I was shocked to see that it doesn't yet comply with Chrysler's MS 6395 due to an ongoing 2 year longevity test. I have no doubt the M1 would be fine just like their website and Bob the oil guy suggest, but Castrol Syntec 5W-20 complies with 6395 today. So I switched to Castrol until M1 formally complies. Is anyone else running the Syntec over M1?

I asked the service/parts folks what they use for Synthetic on the 5.7 and they handed me a bottle of Pennzoil Platinum.

Re: Oil for 5.7 Hemi

I run Mobil 1 EP in my 5.7 WK2.

When is the last time anyone heard of an engine failure in a WK2 running Mobil 1, let alone the dealer sending out an oil sample for analysis to find out what oil you were running?

It's great oil, run it and don't overthink it IMHO.

Nothing but Pennzoil Platinum in my vehicles. My engines are always quieter on start up with PP.

Yup, I run that too (would use Ultra if it was in stock where I live.)

Great oil

Wow. And my last 2 oil changes at the dealer have been with Mobil 1 that they supplied...

Why wouldn't you just stick with Castrol? Is there some reason you think M1 is a better product?
