Oil light on after only 3.5k miles with synthetic?

So I got my oil changed at 4k with synthetic at my local dealership. The receipt says synthetic but why would the oil change indicator fire at only 7,500 miles. Is it possible the dealer only really put in regular oil or is this just a fluke?

Re: Oil light on after only 3.5k miles with synthetic?

Your jeep has no set mileage counter it factors in tons of variables

Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 - Oil Change Indicator System

Synthetic or dino oil the system has no option to tell it what oil was put in.

I figured but the dealer told me to come in and they'd reset it...scratching my head.

... and it sounds like the dealer didn't reset it when they changed it.

I've had mine for a year and a half, and the oil change indicator goes off at about 7-8k. Which means if they reset it, it won't go off until 7-8k from where you are now. Which means 11k or so on this oil change if you wait until it goes off again.
