Re: Only 45 Miles on the Odometer in my New HA and I'm dead in an Intersection!

Well it's good that they found the problem and it appears it was something simple, but I know it still sucks that it happened. I sure hope I am not forced into buying a vehicle with this start stop technology the next time around. In my opinion its about the silliest thing ever put in a vehicle. When you consider how little fuel a vehicle uses at idle, is it really worth all the extra wear and tear from the engine starting and stoping all the time? Not to mention a problem like this person had where it doesn't start at all in an intersection. This is just my opinion but for me its No Thanks.

Completely Agree!! I just wish there was a way to keep it turned off (like the Eco Mode button).

Funny when I got my '14 the Eco mode defaulted to on every startup. Then they changed it to remember it's last setting in '16 and maybe the '15-not sure). I have a feeling it will be something similar with the Auto Stop in the future.

Yes, the '15 defaults to remember last setting with the Eco button.

It's interesting that the fuel saving Stop/Start is on the already economical V6 but not the Hemi/Diesel. I know it's only a matter of time, but hopefully there will be other non Start/Stop alternatives out there.

In this case, you can't blame the Stop/Start function.

It sounds like FCA needs to put a sleeve around the wiring in that area to protect it from being chafed.

I'd be willing to bet, there won't be a recall, but when a customer brings their Jeep in for any under-vehicle service, they'll slip a sleeve on the harness and the customer will never know anything happened.

Re: Only 45 Miles on the Odometer in my New HA and I'm dead in an Intersection!

I was horrified when I learned my new 16 high altitude has ESS... I hadn't read up on 16 features and we moved so fast on the purchase last weekend. I just figured out how to turn it off and plan to do so regularly.

Is there no hack to leave ESS turned off??

Start/Stop feature may not be a good idea for Turbos in Diesel. Buying Hemi 5.7 or 6.4 with this feature will be a huge turn off for most. Well, at least for me.

If/When they ever put this ESS crap on the HEMI, I'll be looking at switching to another brand.
