Orange Peel

I picked up my factory ordered black/black limited this past weekend from Nader. Easy process and love the jeep so far (first time jeep owner).

I noticed last night that the body paint and the paint on the side of the windows has a very slight orange peel effect. I know this is not only a jeep issue. Anyone else notice this and if so, did you take it to the dealer to have it buffed out or just leave it?

Re: Orange Peel

This was discussed "to death" on this forum in the past. I too find it amazing in the 21st century. Consensus was to get a vehicle such as a Rolls Royce which is hand sanded between paint coats!

Take your Jeep out in the mud where it belongs, you won't even notice it has paint!

Re: Orange Peel

Its a car thing. Look at most cars paint and you will find at least a small amount of orange peel. If you want to minimize it......

Re: Orange Peel

"Orange peel" is not an issue. Its how new cars come. Its the texture in the clear coat. You can get the car wet sanded if it bothers you, but expect it to be very expensive and slightly risky if they sand through the clear. Its a perfectly normal thing, enjoy your Jeep!

Re: Orange Peel

I bought a new car with undisclosed repairs from damage during shipping or at the dealer. I found it by noticing the rear quarter lacked orange peel (was wet sanded) like rest of the car. They took the car back after I threatened legal action for selling me a wrecked vehicle.

Later, the replacement car was hit and my body man went through great detail to duplicate the "factory peel" on the repaired area.

Its normal...enjoy your new ride!

Re: Orange Peel

^^^ thats the other thing. Its very easy to tell a car that has had body work or repainted panels because most shops do not match the factory clear coat orange peel texture. The places that do are typically better shops. Nothing looks worse than a repainted body panel that doesn't match clear coat texture....atleast to me anyway.
