Re: ORC Module Shortage

Got back my Jeep today. Looks like after several calls to Jeep/Chrysler and filing complain the part "magically" showed up yesterday. Invoice also shows that they did complete software update of the car which I'm happy about it.

Here is what the invoice says on mine:

"C/S THERE'S A MESSAGE SAYING SERVICE AIRBAG SOON.
C/S WHEN HAS SEATBELT ON IT SAY'S SEATBELT IS UN BUCKLED.
NO COMMUNICATION FROM ORC MODULE CK FUSES OK CK POWER AND
GROUNDS OK FOUND ORC MODULE INTERNAL FAILURE ORDERED PART
REPLACED AND PRMRA}IMED NE[,I ORC MODULE RECHECK OK"

Re: ORC Module Shortage

I had the same issue with Orc failure in May. It took 26 days to get the part. It came in this past Monday. They put it in and now the backup warning system is not functioning correctly. Chrysler has told my service department to order another Orc module.

Re: ORC Module Shortage

What would add insult to injury here would be if the ORC replacements are from the same batch and as defective as the originals.

I have a 4-13 build as well. So far, no problems... knock on wood.

Re: ORC Module Shortage

Being this module controls the airbags, this is definitely a safety concern, and those with the problem should probably report it to the NHTSA: https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/ This may expedite a safety recall by Chrysler.

This problem just happened to me this week, Simultaneous alarms, vehicle phone, airbag, etc.
Anyone have a part number for this item?

Re: ORC Module Shortage

Had new ORC module installed this last Friday. My dealership said they had a module on order for me and it would take 4 to 6 weeks to get one in. I called Chrysler to complain and after one hour on the phone with Chrysler they found out my dealer had never ordered the module. Chrysler had the dealer put one a module on order and within three days Chrysler called me and said the module was delivered to my dealership. I called the dealership to set up an appointment and within three hours the module was installed and my jeep is back to functioning properly. Why does a costumer have to go through such an ordeal to get something done?

Re: ORC Module Shortage

Contacted the parts guy today at my dealer. I asked if he could order me a ORC module for my Jeep, even though my appt. wasn't till Friday. he confirmed I did have an appt. and said he would order it. He also told be there are 400 of these backorderd nationwide. Sounds like this is a problem, and I may still need to contacted Chrysler to get a case number open to help expedite it. Anyone have the number for Chrysler?? OH, and I filed my complaint with the NHTSA.

Re: ORC Module Shortage

I never had to contact Chrysler, as my dealer wasn't happy with the part status and they called the district rep. The district rep authorized a paid rental car while mine was waiting for the part. He did not want the vehicle on the road with the module malfunctioning and I couldn't agree more. It's only going to take one mistake by someone while this part is malfunctioning and the results could be deadly! My module arrived in just under two weeks and oddly enough, all my radio issues stopped after it was replaced.

Re: ORC Module Shortage

Had my wk2 in the shop today to fix this problem, they would not replace the ORC module, only said they reflashed the airbag module and everything reset. I have no confidence in this solution, and fully expect this problem to reoccur.

Re: ORC Module Shortage

I wish I could give you better news, but that looks exactly like my dash did. Hopefully you have a dealer that will be somewhat assertive, as that seems to help in getting the part quicker.
