outdoor temperature off???

First warm day I've had with the jeep. Weather man says it's 85 outside, jeep says it's 95. Is this normal?

Re: outdoor temperature off???

I have found it to be way off in warm weather. My 1999 Chrsler 300M does the same thing.

Re: outdoor temperature off???

My temp display has always been right on. From minus 35 degrees to plus 35 degrees (Celcius!). Just lucky maybe.

Re: outdoor temperature off???

I guess there is a update for the temp. system that fixes it. I have not had it in the dealership yet, but may take it in for an oil change and have them update it.

Mine is like this too.
about 10 to 15 degrees lower than what it really is when it is warm outside.

Re: outdoor temperature off???

Mine seems to be pretty close. My wife's Acura was often 10ish degrees high.

Remember that the ambient temperature measured by weather folks may differ from the temperature of the air near your vehicle's sensor, so there is likely to be some kind of variance.

Actually when its working right, its pretty close. I started it at 10am it flipped to 69 degrees and never changed from that all day even though it was well into the 90's. Mine seems to get stuck on the first reading or two of the day.

Re: outdoor temperature off???

Mine seems pretty accurate. About the same as my 2008 Wrangler and my wife's 2008 Liberty. If the car's been sitting in direct sunlight, it's going to read high when you first start it up, but after a few minutes of driving to get ambient temperature air flowing under the hood to wherever the sensor is located and it comes down to the correct temperature.
