What does that have to do with the temp sensor? check your owners manual...

Re: Outside Temperature Sensor Problem

The important part of the outside temperature is that the HVAC system uses it as reference for some of its functions.

Most of us can tell when it is hot or cold outside (open the window - stick out your finger), but when the jeep thinks it is +57 outside and that hasn't changed in the last 5 hours while you drive around in +82 (or -15) temperatures the HVAC doesn't have the proper reference temperature so that all it's features will function properly.

Besides, if you pay $50K for a rolling thermometer it should display correctly.

Re: Outside Temperature Sensor Problem

I find this statement interesting ...
"If a customerís VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other customers..."

How do you get on this VIP list?

Apparently I'm not on the VIP list for tsb 08-053-14.
Built before May 06, 2014
They did however perform tsb 24-002-13 which I had no problem with nor requested it.
I sent the printed 08-053-14 tsb and a letter stating significant delay to update the ambient air temperature display as it says on the tsb.
A call to the service manger went not well. He said if I was specific they would of looked into it. I told him 4hrs to update. We'll I should have wrote that. So next visit I shall see.

When it's not an RRT, the dealer feels like they need to verify one of the issues themselves. Good luck duplicating any of these reliably like the alarm going off for no reason in a busy parking lot(which has happened to me on multiple occasions). As for the temperature, when your $45,000 car says it's 55 when it's 80 outside, it looks pretty f*cking stupid.

∑ False security alarm activation.
∑ A significant delay to update the ambient air temperature display.
∑ Intermittently the interior lights may not turn on with the first press of the key fob.
∑ Ambient temperature may display - 40 F/-40 C for a few seconds at start up.
∑ Courtesy lamps are dim when approaching the vehicle after a remote start.
∑ Intermittently the vehicle may not start, after the vehicle has been driven and then trying to restart the vehicle with remote start.
∑ Back lighting flickers after a remote start, the condition is gone after entering the vehicle and restarting it.
∑ Engine may turn off, after the vehicle is remote started and then unlocking the vehicle with the liftgate passive entry.
∑ False U0422-00-Implauible Data Received and turning on the MIL indicator lamp. (Diesel Only)
∑ Missing DTCs for open or short cabin heater 1, 2 or 3. (Diesel Only)
∑ False DTC setting for front Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) circuit open, DRL will work properly.

∑ False setting for B16D3-15 Right DRL Lamp Control - Circuit Short To Battery Or
Open.
∑ False setting for B16CF-15 Left DRL Lamp Control - Circuit Short To Battery Or Open.
I did actually read the PDF. If majority of people are having these issues, then yes an RRT should be pushed out to those affected. The 1st dealer I went to about my radio questioned me on everything and didn't know what to do. I have been taking my Jeep to a different dealer in town and they don't question any of the RRT/TSB I bring in with me. Seems like some dealers are just way more picky at things than others.

Isn't Chrysler/Jeep admitting this is an issue by putting out this TSB?

I am no way a Chrysler/Jeep leg-humper. I've had my issues with my jeep (radio, tranny, and rear shocks). I understand that it is a problem, what I was getting at is that there are some that are making it into a bigger issue that what it needs to be.

By no means what I trying to start anything or bash anyones opinions/complaints in my previous post. You have to admit that there are some people that will complain about the littlest things just to hear themselves complain. With that, I'll leave this thread until I actually have something to complain about if I have any of these issues.

Re: Outside Temperature Sensor Problem

i got the TSB done this am (along with the Brake recall - they installed some foam shield thing) and oddly enough... the HVAC acts differently now - like i had it set at 68 - and heat was on (even though it felt warm inside) - turning it down to 65 turned on the air. still playing, but its seems more responsive. lol.. odd. oh yeah, so far the temp sensor is fine.

If you need something easy to duplicate for the dealer to get them to apply the TSB. This one may be it. I ran into this on my car and was like WTF? I can't open put something in the back if I remote start. Glad this TSB will fix it.
