Good to know that Chrysler/Jeep is on top of things...

They upgraded the BCM flash for this to an RRT

Nice. I see they took my suggestion.

Re: Outside Temperature Sensor Problem

left the car Today to install the booster shields and asked them specifically to install this update, called me and told me there is no update for my car, build date was Feb, 2013.

Told them to check specifically if that update was installed, which I think it wasn't last time two different updates were installed but not this one. But I'm not sure if they can tell which update I do or don't have installed.

Now I'm not sure if the update simply didn't work or if it was never installed. I still think it was never installed since last time my car was still out of the build date range for the TSB

It should say on your past receipts what software flashes were installed. This one is for 2014s built before May 06, 2014 so you are in the range for it.

Typical response from a Chrysler/Jeep dealership. That's the dealerships way of saying "we're done with you now...go away". The problem is not too many monkeys at the Jeep dealerships know how to update the Jeep's software (especially within the given timeframe Chrysler allots), and Chrysler does not reimburse the dealerships enough to perform the work. You just got hit with a double whammy!

What you need to do is what I do...call Chrysler Customer Care and say you're having trouble finding a dealership in your area that will perform the TSB work, and ask them to locate & talk to the service manager for you. So far I'm 2 for 2 using this method.

Re: Outside Temperature Sensor Problem

I think that at least part of the problem is that while many dealerships might have good "mechanics", they haven't invested in training "technicians".

Every TSB I've read that has anything to do with computer issues states that the dealer's computer (whatever they call it) must be updated to a certain version of Chrysler's software. If they fail to take that step, there is a good chance when they hook up a car it won't show the newer updates as being available.

There should be a way for Chrysler to update these systems without any dealer involvement. Large companies routinely update tens of thousands of computers around the world. All the end user needs to do is remember to not turn it off.

I have never had a TSB refused. They have even done a couple (non RRTs) that I didn't ask for.

It shouldn't be necessary, but it is sure worth taking the time to search out a good dealer.

Of all the dealerships I've bought cars/trucks/SUVs from in my area (and I've bought A LOT of new vehicles in my days), Chrysler/Jeep dealerships are by far the worst dealerships I've had to deal with...they just don't like doing warranty work, especially TSB software flashes. As long as I've owned my 2014 Overland (and my past 2014 Limited), I've never felt like the vehicle has ever been fully up to date with all the software TSBs that have come out, and it's such a pain in the ass to deal first with Chrysler Customer Care...then have them locate a dealership who will perform the TSB...then have to deal with the asshole service managers who openly show they don't like doing the work. Before I learned how to update the radio myself, I had the last Jeep dealership perform the update on my old Limited (along with 3 other TSBs)...up from 13.19, and when I picked up the vehicle, they only updated it to 13.38...not the most latest version.

As much as I love my GC, I don't think I'll ever buy another Jeep because of the poor service I've received from Chrysler/Jeep dealerships. I like the superb service my wife receives at the BMW dealerships, and the awesome service I've received at the foreign dealerships.

If I had all the issues you report, and all the poor service, I would no longer be a member of Jeep garage, 'cause I wouldn't still be driving a Jeep. No car is worth the stress your Jeep ownership seems to cause you.

I wonder how it is these dealerships stay in business if they tell all their service customers to go away?

I have a "mission" Bill...a mission to warn as many people as I can about the issues I've had with my Jeeps, and the shitty dealings I've had with the Jeep dealerships in my area.

I've asked that question myself many times...maybe that's why I see so many Honda Pilots on the road out my way...out numbering the GC at least 3 to 1.
